Plan is give it a tidy up as it was stood for 3 years, then it'll be ready for a new owner.
It's not the tidiest but if I get most things right on it then It'll be good for someone who wants abit of summer fun.
....hopefully a quick project....unlike the rest of my projects

always fancied an MGRV8 ... were cheap enough back in the noughties ... and 99% were clean as a whistle as were never sold into the home market and had to be brought back to blighty from warmer climes
only draw back with them was the 3.9 lump - hand grenade with the pin out -
if they'd only put the 4 litre into 'em, with the 'banana' manifold out o' the P38
a friend had one and was all the original should've been ....... and wasn't
most of 'em went to Japan, so were conveniently RHDs

Our Hermes bloke is brilliant, although he's blotted his copy book yesterday
the rings're rolled up on my old DS&G lathe ... make a mandrel for the chuck and roll 20ft of 12mm bar round it slooowly off a rest ... the Harrison'll do the same - plenty of grunt - just won't be able to feed 20ft lengths into it, as it doesn't have a 60ft wide workshop behind it

very similar .. I used to put a hooked tag on the mandrel to catch the start tail in ... then windYou lost me there, had to do some googling

.... have rolled 12mm square and 16mm round ... need to have the mandrel slightly smaller than the desired size as there was always 'spring back' ...IIRC to get the 4" OD in 12mm it needed a 2 3/4" mandrel ... might still have a small one - will get you a pic

12mm round and square ... thought I had a few coils left, tucked away .... the advent of thin discs made lopping them up a doddle
and as a bonus ..... me sheet is drying nicely ... with its French chalk lines re-appearing miraculously ... 'nother hour and I might go fire the genny up and put the plasma through it

Well it dried up enough .......... so dragged the plasma out, wound up the compressor a bit, drained it down and then let it have its head..... plugged the plasma in and wound the genny up .... after i'd gotten the sheet all set up with a straight edge...
and some support for the piece coming off ..... and off it came
spun it around for the 2 m cut .... didn't have anything I trusted that length to hand, so did it in two
was then just a case of trimming the rest down to appropriate sizes to suit their eventual home .....
wish I'd remembered to polish the edge of the edge off first -- snagged it and notched the cut
pile of bits ready for tidying and assembling into a workbench
didn't see any point in wasting this bit by trimming it straight through .... will make a nice setting out square with some careful fettling
top is sat on the bench awaiting my attention and all little the bits're tucked up for the night in a box
lop up the 502 box next for the support structure ..... but looking at the weather forecast it ain't likely to be before Tuesday
............ and then Clara arrived feeling much more herself ....... been to a 'party' down the village ....
...........and proceeded to issue instructions as to what we were going to be doing next (after I'd had ten to tidy up) .....
saved by Pam's Jubilee 'Crowns & Corgis' indoor Barby tea shortly after
... nice it was too ...... pity it was too bloody cold to have had the tea we had planned on the patio .....
one to make you smile ......

After I complained the Yodel guy turned up at 7pm with the parcels
DSG, the Rolls Royce of lathes, made just down the road from me too. I never knew you could make rings like that on one. My old Harrison being offloaded and into the garage until the workshop is built:

It's their famous failure, something (I forget what, piston rings, valve stem oil seals or something) gives up prematurely, the cat gets blocked and the engine dies. That aside they were good cars and many had their engines replaced by the better Celica one by owners.
That's going by memory, Google will know better, but it's something like that, definitely a blocked primary cat.

Makes some sense as I was told it had, had a new 2nd hand engine. Its got a bit of vvti rattle, but that's improved no end after me running it for last 3 days. It was stood for 3 years and the 2 years prior was less than 200miles

Nice lathes the 140s ... had a 165 for a while and that was lovely, but a bit small and replaced it with a Mastiff ... the type 17 ran alongside it for a long time 'til i got bid absolutely silly money for the Mastiff and it wentAfter I complained the Yodel guy turned up at 7pm with the parcels
