We've got a couple of mixed breed dogs that like a bit of ratting, rabbits too.
Recently they were both hunting around a sheet of roofing iron when the rat came out. I'm not sure which dog grabbed it first but the other dog also grabbed the rat about a second later. In another second they both had some rat as they tore it in half
Vermin has no hope of survival if one of these latches on.

They're both good natured but the red one can be pretty protective when in the car and would go at delivery drivers given the chance. Even when I've got the box off a driver he'll give the box a bite just to make the point.look like " butter wouldn't melt .... "
They're great company and both of them want to be on any machine I'm driving be it forklift, truck or digger. It can be tight in the cab of a small machine with the three of us
I'm thinking you need a good ratter dog Druid. Keep the rats under control and company for your cat! Seriously, a good dog will accept any pack member even if it's a cat and get on just fine. They also love to go wherever you go in any vehicle at all, as well as let you know when there's dodgy characters lurking around your property. Probably have a go at your unpleasant neighbours given a suitable command

Sadly the mighty Dozer is no longer with us - he died 18 months ago aged 19!
We’ve got his grandson now (along with a couple of other hounds) who’s a real ‘chip off the old block’… This week I keep finding him wolfing down baby bluetits (I’ve no idea where he’s getting them from) and sheep afterbirth. In spite of that I wouldn’t swap him (or any of them) for anything tbh, they are my mates!

Dozer got to 19 years old on a diet of dried dog food, anything he caught himself, the odd bit of my sarnie/scotch egg/fat off the Sunday roast etc. Never went to the vets, was amazing with people/kids/livestock but a nightmare with other dogs (particularly anything big - in his head he was the biggest though). He was really fit until the last couple of weeks (deaf and latterly blind over the last couple of years, but still got around the place fine), it broke my heart when we had him put to sleep but I think he’d had a stroke at the end. Still miss him now….

not been quite such a philanthropic day in Druidfab land ... but a busy one in the BIL's gates stakes....
first one done ... and it'd looked like I was gonna get p*ssed on for the previous hour ... was I gonna be so lucky for #2 ??
second one went together a lot quicker ... had all the cut lengths in my head and bar spacings ready worked ...
not a lot in the offcuts pile ..... and have had this sod buzzing me all afternoon .... 'bout 45 mm long .. that's a 5 core x 6mm SWA cable he's sat on and a twist lock side, std 4" corrugation behind it
's that time of year for 'em ..... like Wellington bombers, buzzing about at dusk

aye .. get them too, but not been warm enough for them yet ....
and they don't carry a sting that can kill a horse ....
we have a few 'full house' hornets every year and as long as they don't bother me I leave 'em alone ....
entry to the house is a death penalty and have terminated the odd one or two, that've dared come in, especially with Clara about and now Harper too.
just a bit unsettling having that 'un droning about me, in and out of the box most of the day.
