sat having lunch yesterday ... my phone rings .. look at it and it's Vicki ... if it's a problem it's me she rings, as she knows it is ALWAYS in my pocket and gets answered .... Pam's phone can be anywhere in the house/where ever she last put it down.

" can you please come and collect Clara, Harper is unwell and I need to take her to hospital "

" No problem .. be there in five minutes " ..... " Pam, get changed, we're going to Vicki's - NOW !! " quick explanation and shot round outside locking up, then the house and we're gone ...

Was expecting to leave Pam there and be making a low level 'flight' to the nearest hospital 20 miles away ... they've closed the A&E in our local in town, 6 miles away :mad: ..... Harper struggling to breathe apparently, but kept that one to myself.;)

turned into Vicki's and VERY relieved to see a fast response paramedic's vehicle and an ambulance sat outside her place, let Pam out and parked up.
Unknown to me, Vicki'd been on to 111 ... who'd finally answered after what must have been a very long 30 minute wait for Vicki, a nurse had listened to Harper over the line and they'd dispatched the medical crew, who in fairness had not taken very long to get there.(y)

They'd gotten the little 'un 'stabilised' and were taking them off on the 20 mile run to what is now the closest A&E ....

talking to the fast response guy after, he was driving one of these new RAV4 plug ins ...
said it can run both the motor and leccy together, to give 320HP ...
he said it is an awesome thing to get some where in a hurry

anyway ... locked up at Vicki's, grabbed stuff for Clara and we came home .. Vicki'd decided she didn't need 'mum' to go with her and'd be better 'placed' with Clara ...
Rang Vicki's hubby, who was doing 'a shift' at a local pub (part time supplemental income, as and when), filled him in and he shot off down to the hospital.

Kept Clara amused for a couple of hours with the usual, fed her tea and she was getting restless (understandably) and we'd heard now't ...

I hadn't had my Hamster juice, as we'd planned to do it after lunch ... she loves being involved in that, so got her to set it all up (amazing what she remembers, from the few times she's been around, in the past, on a 'treatment' day) and 'nurse Clara' forgot all about the rest of the day :giggle:

WP_20220829_19_07_44_Pro.jpg

I draw the line at the canulation bit though  that remains Pam's domain:giggle:

Daddy arrived 'bout an hour later .... told us they were going to keep Harper and Vicki for a couple more hours, to be sure she'd be OK overnight and then they left ready to collect them both later ... Got a call about 10 to say all was well(-ish) and home ... some upper respiratory tract infection and had been given a steroidal treatment to ensure her airways remained well and truly open, whilst the infection treatment did it's job.

DO NOT want another afternoon like that in a hurry ..... medics were absolutely brilliant, calm and totally cool/re-assuring in a very stressful situation ... consummate professionals (y)

Harper still sounds like Darth Vader today, apparently, but is bright, active, hungry/feeding fine - pretty much her usual 11 month old self :):giggle::cool:(y)

Vicki and Chris both back in school next week .... will be the start of some busy grand parenting time ... little 'un 3 days a week, combined with Clara, morning and afternoon, before/after school ... need my body to get its head together  ...
still knackered after an hour or two doing anything

Only Had one ambo job which was bad enough .tbf they do act swiftly with nippers.
Our youngest has had a weird series of really high temperatures. Doc has said they seeing some odd stuff in young kids ATM ,they think it's something to do with covid lockdowns etc and less interactions 🤷 it's not nice seeing them so rough ..

Wishing a speedy recovery.

I do admire that you have Clara helping with your meds. Sometimes people shy away and shield kids from such things. Show them what real life can be like and they gain a greater respect along the way!!

fair play they really didn't hang about .... I was sooo pleased to see them there when I arrived ... the trip to the new Grange hospital, 20 miles away, is not an easy one. :( our local A&E was so simple ... WTF they closed it, is beyond me ... Aber is one of the largest towns in county  and very central in its catchment area.

been doing it since she was toddling Shaun :giggle: .. loves being involved and understands what it means to me.

Harper and Vicki spent another 7 hrs in the hospital yesterday evening.... tried to see her GP from 08.00 yesterday morning ... nothing available 'til 16.30 FFS !! in spite of the previous days events:mad: .... and then they sent her straight down the hospital  .... who've now given her a direct number and told her to come straight in if needed. (y)
More steroidal treatment and anti-infection drugs last night, when they saw her and seemingly a bit better this morning ... was bright enough through the day, yesterday, but struggling to breathe :( .. pity the GPs weren't as on the ball as the paramedics were

My Christine in High Dependency Intensive Care Unit in July after coming down with Sepsis during a Stem Cell Transplant. Plugged into every machine that goes ping and more tubes than an excavator hydraulic pilot control system
IMG_2733.jpeg

Below today on the beach, Christine with Rocky the dog slowly recovering. I think she's eyeing off Rocky's hair as she lost hers through chemo. And Rocky has more than he needs anyway.
Really impressed with our medical system especially when you need lifesaving treatment. The nurses are fantastic even though they've had a hard time over COVID having to do double shifts etc.

looking a hell of a lot better there Dave,(y) I am pleased to be able to say .... must've been a VERY stressful time, for you both:unsure::(

our medical folk perform miracles on an hourly basis .... we all need to be grateful for all of their skills and support them any way we can .... all these bloody 'targets' the UK system sets/harps on about should be scrapped and buried deep (with those that set them) ...

been a bit of a hectic end to the week, courtesy of Pam ..... her best mate's daughter got married yesterday ... 120 to the welding ... 450 to the evening do !
She'd asked Pam if she could help with the flowers some time ago and it'd gone from "help" to full blown do 'em!!! She does have 'the knack' although not trained, she just has the eye ....
I've been sorting all her chicken wired Oasis blocks/bases/etc. through the week, in readiness for 'the build', Thursday/Friday and making sure it'd all stand up/stay put ... not as easy as it sounds ...
she put in a 12hr day on it Thursday and another three Friday morning, 'fore it all got shipped off to the church, Friday afternoon and installed, ready for the Saturday event.
Thursday was something else, with flowers and foliage/greenery arriving from every direction ... was considering installing traffic lights and a parking meter .... never had so many visitors in one day .... theme was 'cottage garden' and there were blooms arriving from friend's gardens, all over, from eight o'clock onwards .. some of which were pretty impressive.

OK I know it's the wrong sort of plant ..... but it's the closest I've been to any sort of 'plant' in weeks

Brides Bro arrived Friday afternoon with a large stock box and it all got tied/secured in that for a 10 mile trip to the church ....
I went with him and said as we left " If you don't want to see my missus and your mum completely lose it, take it slow and get this lot there in one piece " :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: ..... we did !! :giggle:

dairy farmers :giggle:

dunno which route they took on the way back, but I'd loaded all the flowers in't stock box and was back at the marquee on the farm, well before they turned up ?

the evening shin dig was some do .... a sea of bodies and three very 'sun burnt' piggies :giggle: .. they were nice too, in a soft white bap with some apple sauce :sneaky: .... we left at midnight as neither of us could hear any more ... .. God knows what time they called it a day ... not spoken to anyone today, but dare say a few of 'em saw the dawn
