Do older diggers still have a place?

More efficient to use both ends😂 I actually bought it like that off a farmer who snapped the boom was one Eddie Warrener’s machine hence the counter weight being that colour, I’ve been in some tight spots and it’s far from zero tailswing but never scraped her yet🙈

keep thinking I need ring you not spoken or relieved me of any money for a while 😂
Is that a 4in1 bucket on the front of the trailer for it?

Parts not available or just not stocked and take awhile to get?
Expensive, plus their main dealership doesn’t have the best rep supporting older machines. Mind you, I’ve just clocked you’re in NI so that may not apply. I understand there’s a lot more Kommies running over there.

Dash 3 Doosan dx140 is a good bus last of the 14 tonners with 6 cylinder. Had them in the quarry i used to work in engines would take some abuse and keep going alot better than the solars. They did have a metal pipe from the valve chest that would split then thump out a gallon an hour so thats something to keep an eye out for.

My case cx 130 is 23 years old . Isuzu engine and readily available components for pump final drives etc . I’ve been toiling with changing it but have now decided to give it a lick of paint and keep it going.
I can’t find another 13 tonner that I prefer !

Have you tried a 312 Cat or a Hitachi? Being honest, at 13 tonnes there isn’t much to choose from the seat, I have to admit I had a bit of time in a JS130 and rated it, the only one I wasn’t so keen on was a 2018 NH 13 tonne, seemed a bit light on breakout for the size. It depends mainly on dealer support and residuals, and you’ll struggle to beat Cat in those areas.

That CX is probably the same base machine as the old FH130 which was an excellent machine, very fast on the swing.

It was based on the ex120 hitachi , it’s a sumitomo sh120 painted in case colours same as the js 130 of that era . I think new Holland also rebadged it as theirs . I’ve had Hitachis but after they got into bed with fiat they just weren’t as good . I worked with Marron in London at the time of the switch to FH and that was not a good time for the dealers . I had a mate who was area manager for bm plant and they hated the FH after having the genuine jap ex for so long

We have different opinions of the FH Bri ! My comparison came from having used the ex series up to the point of the switch to FH and it was dire in comparison for reliability

Couldn’t comment on the reliability as we had it cross-hired in for a couple of months, but it was good from the seat once I got used to the speed.

Was it a dog?
No idea, never even got to see it. Rang on Wednesday and arranged to view it Thursday afternoon as Wednesday didn’t suit him, rang him Thursday to make sure he was still able to make it down to the digger (it was on site away from his home), told me he would give me a shout later as he had 2 other men coming to view it that evening and he didn’t want to upset them, I pointed out I rang ahead the day before and he had no other viewings lined up, it should of been me who had first refusal, he just said he would be in touch if they didn’t buy it so I told him not to bother and hung up
