Do older diggers still have a place?

If old is clean and tidy been well cared for I think I'd tend to go for that option anyday of the week. In my experience the older stuff can be serious money earners if bought right and new stuff is being built to a budget.

If your doing 200 to 500 hours a year and the cat is sensible money then yeah, do it.

All machines can blow a hose any time new or old.

Whatever you buy will be ageing as you own it so will still give same issues regardless of it been 10 or 20 years old. You'd also like to think that there's new hoses/bits on it anyway, it's not like nothing will have broken or burst in its life time from new.

You still considering a brand new TB219?
Rock, Hard Place..... It's the last chance to buy a new one and my 800hr 2019 machine now has 1700 hrs on.... 22k is cheap as and it makes sense to get one before I can't....

However I know full well it will rust as quickly as any other Takeuchi..... Yes I would like to park it in a shed and use it as back up until my current 219 is shagged..... But alas that won't happen and even if it was indoors I suspect it would be showing rust through the paint by 2028.... Getting it means chopping the 138FR which whilst it is my least fav machine it does do something neither the 219 nor the 175's can which is spin in a circle...... (the 138FR will work in a tigher space than the 219).

I doubt I will.... It does'nt fit my buisness choices to finance and if i'm honest I will probably significantly downsize the fleet in the near future. I've enjoyed doing what I do but I am starting to get tired of most jobs...... Fully considering switching some things up

On an edit- what I forgot to mention is we still have the 015 at a 2000ish vintage and a 2010 TB108 both have there place and are machines that whilst rarely used are invaluable when they are!

I get on well with my 1990 814 super keep some spare hoses in behind the cab and a fuel filter other day dead man’s handle stopped working so I wedged a stick between oil tank and the button on the end of the solenoid 😂 you can’t beat the older simple machines with no emissions shite on them, that cat looks a nice machine

looking at the tail weight it appears to spend more time scratching its arse than digging - been watching too many cows :ROFLMAO:
More efficient to use both ends😂 I actually bought it like that off a farmer who snapped the boom was one Eddie Warrener’s machine hence the counter weight being that colour, I’ve been in some tight spots and it’s far from zero tailswing but never scraped her yet🙈
You are an old farmer though 😂😂
keep thinking I need ring you not spoken or relieved me of any money for a while 😂
