Im not in to that. I dont mind steel wheels with a bit of ofsett but no massive tyres or attention seaking crap for me.
My disco was lifted 2 inches but i put it back to standard as it drove like crap and wears the edge off the tyres.
Depends on the vehicle..you forget those are the components a defender was built from or worseOne of my mates summed it up nicely.
Car companies spend millions of pounds making sure that every component functions correctly with the next. And an eBay lift kit, dodgy wheel spacers and a 200quid Halfords socket set are not going to improve it.

Old or new?I think defenders are running such a fine line of functioning that I wouldn't dare through one thing out of spec.

New one needs a set of spacers to not look retarded ...
I'm finally getting to do some work on my disco. I need and try and find where all the slop is on the transmission.
Has anyone rebuilt a lt230?
I think a lot of the prices on defenders are nonsense. I was looking at a 130 on market place a while back and was tempted but £12000 seamed a bit too much. Ive just looked and it went for £6000.
would you not rather a 200/300 tdi?
Td5 has a lot of electrics and no torque low down. I didnt like driving my old manual d2.

Deffo coming down.I would rather have a TDI but at 13 grand it seems a decent price for a galv chassis well tidied up defender.

To be fair they do most of that regardless of spacers and lift kitsOld ones.
I had plenty of mates at college with defenders with lift kits and big wheels and they where an endless stream of half shafts, props, gearboxes and diffs. TBF the engines always seemed alright.
