Hi,

The following is the a true description of the no end of problems I have with a CT08 digger. I would advise anyone considering buying one of these please read this or message me.

I'm not the only one though. Businesses who have bought these machines, certainly the CT08 have got rid. They have all said the same thing they hire the machine out and were waiting for the calls. My machine went out 5 days last week. I had to attend 3 times to fix.

These machines are poorly designed and use cheap materials. Metal I can only describe as plasticine..

Long list of issues include, electrical faults, flat batteries, starter motors failing, Hour meters is a constant failing. I have now come across a major issue that will affect all the CT08's and most likely other machine. The tracks will not stay on. Doesn't matter how many times they are pumped up with grease. After a few days they will be hanging.

I have now found out why the piece of plate at the end of the ram opposite to the idler wheel is like a cross shape. Its only welded on onside. The side the force is applied there is no weld. When force/pressure is applied this plate bends that is a mere 7mm thick bends back towards the idler wheel which loosens the track and off it pops.

These machines are not bullet proof they are cheap Chinese crap.

I would now advise anyone looking at buying a machine. Think twice about anything that has come from China. It is buyer beware.

A fool and his money are soon parted. I am that fool.

Firstly all the information has been logged on the system.
secondly if you have had these problems with the machine please supply the serial number and invoice of when you bought this machine . If we had been made aware that you were having issues with your machine, we would have collected this machine personally, and taken back to carter the U.K. importers yard to check the issues and rectify any issues .
We haven’t been made aware of any issues that you state with tracks coming lose. There are a lot of CT08 & CT10’s in the U.K. and apart from the odd hour clock and battery failure we have very little problems . But these issues are sorted once they have been logged with us (U.K. carter importer) if you have had a big problem with the tracks why haven’t you come back to us to rectify any issue . We can not fix them if we have not been made aware of the issue you are having .
Please go you the website and email me you contact information and serial number and copy of invoice of when you bought it along with images of the issues. We do carry all parts on the shelf and try and deal with every issue ASAP .
would have been advisable to come direct to get the importer to get these issues sorted as nothing can be sorted though a forum unless we pick them up .
thank you

More importantly I want to know what happens to the cardboard boxes they come in..... Reckon you could build a fair box fort with them 🤣

Also is it true that the CT08 is a "death trap" that has no track braking when coming down a slope/off a trailer?

"In summary I would say these machines are not going to appeal to everyone just yet, would I buy one, probably not" - the bloke that couldn't find anything negative to say about detank.

Hi there thank you for your comment . Nice to actually see there are still some civilised and not rude ,people out there .
the CT 08 & CT 10 is not a contractors machine and is not sold as a contractors machine . It is sold for DIY /small holders odd jobs machine . Hence why it is only £6695 and NOT £15,000 like other brands on the market .
this machine is at the price of a very old or worn out machine selling in the U.K. which have no warranty.
there will be a CT10 S coming out which will have full Japanese running gear but the price of this will be £10-£11,000 .
This will be more ideal for contractor with a similar spec to your other well know brands .
moving on to the CT16& CT18 up ,I will put these machines up against any machine on the market today with there full Japanese running gear .
we do have these in with some companies working hard and clicking up so big hours .
If you would like to know more please contact us .
thank you

I like cake
There are people out there for everything, we sell some lesser priced equipment which still get the job done. It’s a difficult world trying to convince plant men and women (we hope) such on on this forum because they know better and often price isn’t considered( i had this recently) lesson learned as the same products went out and not heard a thing. For 6k you get what you get and you pay your money and take your chance. I wouldn’t personally but the choices for a used digger at the moment dont exist around that price point so….. It would be good for somebody to actually use one for a bit to see putting aside we know it wont dig as well as other brands and looking at the point your saving 7-8k….
I think a 6k micro will retain a fair residual too. As its already at bottoms, so you might lose 2k but you would lose more than that on a premium machine

It amazes me how quickly companies pick up on unhappy customers via this forum, yet nearly always apparently the company know a nothing about said faults! Let’s hope some resolve comes of this!

So why have you sold them to businesses that you know were going to hire them out. Spending thousands on a machine to do odd jobs it would be cheaper to hire. Oh hang on. Cannot believe I've just read that.

So how come 87% of the time the machine goes out it has a breakdown?

I have dealt with Matthew at the importers several years ago when I purchased my Kubota from him. Found to be be honest, fair and very knowledgeable.
I can’t comment on the Carter’s but it does surprise me that someone thinks the way to resolve issue is to moan on a forum. Will be interesting to see if the original poster reappears and explains where he got it from.

Also let me just f****ng stop you there.

My box fort enquiry is a genuine one relating to there cheap Chinese manufacturing..... f**k all with dislexia, spelling or f**k all else.

I am famously unable to spell words and sometimes struggle to say certain words in person... So you can wipe that little nugget of pity out your head..... I've mates who struggle to read and write and I object to you thinking I would pass comment on that....good autocorrect makes me look different. Don't assume.

Sometimes it’s the only way to actually get a dealer or manufacturer to listen.
Often. I went through formal process with dig***s and hot nowhere.... A drunken tyrade on Facebook and it's sorted to my satisfaction.....

Interesting that this has all gone quiet.....I still want some boxes to build a fort and whilst we are at it I fancy sticking. CT08 beside a aged and abused yanmar for a dig off.
