Got the bandsaw running last night, great to see it running.
That chink in the female cup is creating a clunk on lower speeds, I'll have to try fix that soon.
The cut wasn't straight, have to get it lined up properly, see if I can't work out how to do it. Suds should be here on tuesday which will be good.

Then started stripping the lower cylinder today, very glad I did that, it was a bit variable on the way down, found out why...
Draining a mixture of sludge and water out of it... Possibly sludge and coolant in the best case scenario.

Someones had a go at the bottom of the rod before...
Might explain some of the slag like particulates floating around in the liquid

Cleaned up the inside with a few swills of petrol, dried it all out, now the question is what oil to put back in? Says Energol HL 100, which from some reasearch is equivalent to ISO46 or sae30, or can I just bung standard hyraulic/transmission oil in for the tractors and diggers lol.

Mine is different to the one on the parts website, its got a spring inside for starters...!
So maybe a seal kit wouldn't be the right one?

hydraulic oil HB .... the cut is like that because the set is gone off the blade .... new one required .... see you've still got the spring loaded quick set stop/cut gauge on there

Gauge just seems to bet getting in the way at the moment really, its not positioned right, also the handle on that side is snapped will have to something about that too. Its not spring loaded however?

ah you got the poor man's/cheapo version ... the delux model was spring loaded out the way and could be swung back into position, once you'd cam locked the vice to check it was still set right/hold it in position as you cam locked the vice

knew there was an indicator for spring tension somewhere ... just couldn't recall where .... found it earlier for you

Time to get a blade or two, thse say that they're uk manufactured but I'm skeptical that it might mean they come off a roll and get cut to length and welded in the UK and could be any old rubbish, always the worry with ebay

M42, 12' 6", 6/10 VP, goldcuts from Selmach were £22 ea, plus the vodka, beginning of the year .. dare say they'd post out

Been a while... Been out doing non-workshopy stuff for ages now, good to get back in and get making again.
Making an adaptor for our digger to pick up the telehandler attatchments, namely man cage and forks.
I'll let the photos do the talking rather than write an essay lol.


Nice to get the meba some steel to cut, even if the 'roller system' is a bit bodgy.

Basic layout of the telehandler headstock side of things. Bottom is 120x120x10 angle, sides are 130x15 flat bar and top is 100x50pfc

Popping some holes in, a few holes in I changed from using oil to using Meba Milk with a bucket under the table to catch the runoff. Much better really, thinking about adding suds to it permanently after this.

Weld the outer square up, welds not perfect but they do the job. Nice to get into spray transfer, even though I've got the run the generator for it...

Adding the 60mm pins to go into the telehandler hooks, got my mate to turn them down to 50mm each end, seeing as I only have the one 50mm drill bit, also made locating and spacing much easier.

All finished up and welded out, welding inside those tight gaps was a pain...

I'll do a separate post about the digger side of things & where I've got to.

Digger side -

Initially started with the pins in the channel, but you couldn't release it out the QH without taking the pins out, which was a slight oversight when I designed it.

Getting it all set up and square was a fair job, but I got there in the end.

Seems like i forgot I didn't take any photos, keep taking them on snapchat then they're gone, which is a pain.

Welded it solid and took it out for a testdrive this evening, works good, got to add a few braces and sort a few teething issues too.

Made it reversable too, so it can go on bracket forwards and you can use the smaller telehandler bucket for light material.

Will add some more photos of the finished thing tomorrow and some better photos of testing in the daylight lol

VERY tidy job that boyo ..... now't wrong with the welding on that either ... nice penetration and smooth even beads

very similar to what I had in mind for mounting a 4 in 1 off a jake, when I can find one .... also hence the interest in @Jimbo69 's QH for the front of (a) Jakie B .... would make the bucket dual use ..... other than my plantohyd issues for the clam ... drema to jake - not an issue ... jake could handle the odd drop of bio ... jake to 'Drema - PITA ... don't want mineral getting into her tank ... not at 3 quid a litre for the Fuchs 40N

drill a few 10mm breather holes if you can't seal it off completely... stops condensation build up, strategically positioned .

Jake is mineral oil ... see no point in changing that and have a few barrels of the stuff sat about
'Drema arrived on Fuchs Plantohyd 40N .. spent its life in water treatment plants ... so I am VERY careful not to contaminate it ... it'll tolerate up to 2% apparently. It's 600 quid a barrel or £850 in 20s x 10 .. no brainer ... have always bought my oils in 205s as I used to get through a lot - 5 FLTs, 6 cranes, 2 trucks, and numerous other vehicles ... have run everything on Rimula X for decades, including me bikes, SDs and RRs
the savings are huge, provided you can accept the initial outlay and long term of the savings, if you don't use much

When I changed the oil in the duck it was less to buy a 200L and a pump than it was to buy it in 20L's.

Have a look on prime lubricants website they have the prices for both on there

Could you somehow add a couple of rams of the correct volume working as ‘pushmepullyous’ - one ram full of the plantohyd and the other with JCB juice?

have to have somewhere to let the oil go if one was expanded and you wanted to use the other to contract? and let oil/air in vice versa?
