I was thinking the same, it can be sticky shite if you spill on in.Ugh, that’s gonna be horrible to work on.
Don't worry - the main working area is concrete, this is just off to one side will be mainly used for walking between machines and maybe one small table. Not the main workspace or anything. Beats old dusty cowshit which the cats like to crap in lolUgh, that’s gonna be horrible to work on.
On the plus side, you've confirmed the cutout works!investigation lead to oil slightly on the low side presumably triggering electric cut out.
had a Matchbox one of them when i was a kid ....... so got to be going back 55+ yearsBeen a while since I posted, been running around doing stuff as usual. Something slightly interesting cropped up the start of the month, went and brought a new toy, as if we didn't have enough 'projects'![]()
Some 8hrs there and back but a fun trip.
VW based snow trac/weasel.
We'd seen it before, all we knew was 'it doesn't run and we tried to get it running but didn't'
So off we go, van loaded with tools and kit to get it on the trailer even if it won't start.
Got there and eyeing around this thing, ex military, so 24v, apart from that though it seems to be a standard bug engine.
Going through your usual stuff to see why it won't start, straight away, no spark.
So after checking HT leads, all seem ok, off comes the metal cover over the distributor cap, only to find some plonkers cracked the dissy cap in half. Bit of superglue and let it set over dinner, pop it back in and she fired right up. Lovely job.
Next day all onto the trailer and the short drive home.
Uneventful but certaintly a cool bit of kit.
Van towed the it all the way home like an absolute charm.

how'd you punch the slots in the uprights Boyo ??Easter weekend done right - bit of fabricating, replacing skids on our Kuhn flail mower. Brought the most of the steel for this a while back and have only just got round to the job.
One skid thoroughly worn outand the other fell off never to be seen again at least 6 years ago![]()
So copying off the one It was.
They say a photo speaks 1000 words so this'll be a fair few thou words

Apparently forgot to take photos of cutting and shaping the lower plate, the next phtots along are of just after tacking it up and now i've just started to make the uprights.

First test fit while all tacked up. All good first time

Then fully welded it and added some bracing in a hope to stop the bend that happened in the original. It did near 17 years of pretty hard service mind.

And finally this evenings job was just to slap a bit of farmer pain red oxide on. (Will be proper Kuhn red tomrrow though!)
