Out of interest - how many of you reading would've done what I did, or would've cut out some material and replaced it properly? If it were someone elses machine and they'd asked me to fix it I would've done it the proper way and not the bodgy way. However on our own kit sometimes its a different story although I like to think that all your work represents your attitude toward it.
could really do with a before pic to make a call on that .... but the weld'll be stronger than the parent material and as long as it's solid material ... which it looks to be, should be fine

Not the best photos as taken just now - but
I could have spent more time blending it with a flap disc, especially the rear, but it serves purpose.

In all the wrong places on the jz70 today trying to figure out why tracking won't go to high speed. Started with the solenoid which had been left disconnected by the last engineer, that then blew a fuse when connected, moved on to the part the electromagnetic solenoid moves..? (I have no idea what this is called and wish I knew). That was stuck. Freed with a push and now it works proper. High speed tracking still not engaging however. Moved down to the final drive in an attempt to free anything that might also be stuck down there, left side done this evening, but right side still to go. If this doesn't work I'll have to pick up a pressure gauge from somewhere and plum it into the line that runs to the final drive to change the tracking speed down there, see if its got the right pressure. Thats my train of thought anyway.

She'd fair on silted up down there...! This is the RHS, LHS was worse but didn't think to grab a pic.

spool or shuttle would be my take on that bit ..... presumably it has a manual over-ride button in the end of it ?

No over-ride button. Didn't think to take any photos of the thing .

Here's one I found online... Very similar except that nut is a knurled thumbscrew instead.

And then theres a chap who looks a bit like this slots on the end and is held captive by the thumbscrew

little button in the end where the nut screws on and holds the coil .. can be pushed in with a point ...

can see the buttons in this pic

the little bit inside the tube, the coil sits on, is the armature which pushes the spool in the cartridge

sometimes you will find a manual override which screws in and holds the shuttle/armature in place .... have one on the 'Drema in the drive circuit IIRC it holds it in low box (high is default on the valve) if the solenoid fails it can be overridden with the screw

Ah. Now that I didn't notice. Will have a look tomorrow, but when activated the through rod comes back towards the coil, not pushed away?

I'll have a look around for anything like that too. Always good to remove parts that 'could go wrong' from the equation bit by bit...

Assumed it was normal. The one on the tractor loader is the same I'm pretty sure
could be either way I suppose, depending on how the armature is configured to be attracted by the magnetic coil

Problem solved... Keep It Simple Stupid.... KISS.
Just swapped the shuttle in the high speed selection port with another one, high speed now works, at some sacrifice but I'll order a new one soon as I can.
This is the chap -

Spent the rest of the day doing some proper bodging, take up some of the slack in the quickhitch with some homemade shims. Worked a treat but sinking 2 or 3 1.5mm shims onto each pin says something about how bad it'd worn :ROFLMAO:

Then my first attempt at a captive pin. Spent a bit too long making the end, will have to think of a faster way to do it... And the welder kept playing silly buggers while i was trying to weld the pin, it was fine afterward, must've been a tight bend in the torch line somewhere stopping the wire coming through..

I made a cardboard template for mine but left the holes solid with just a dot for a centre punch ... scribe around and dot, dot, then blow the large hole from the centre dot mark with a circle cutter, or put a broach through 'em ;)

plus don't bother making the larger hole fit the pin end
I put a 60mm hole in for me 70mm pins ... saves 15mm on the pin length (a lot if you're making plenty) .. and much easier .. jut sit on the end of the pin and pour a weld in the hole;)

Ah. 50mm pin went for a 50mm hole. I'm not making the pins however they were brought at this length a while ago and have been sitting and waiting...
What thickness steel are your ends?
