He converts that to a tipper?

I’d thought of that, but I think it would effect the tare weight as a tipper too much?
Yup...tbf slightly lower sides from memory more like the planing lads .
Incidentally NMS tow their wirtgens on triaxle behind 8 legger.

Huh, so the gross weight of the tow vehicle has no bearing on it. Obviously you couldn’t load the tow vehicle to the max as well. But that is interesting….
Yes, pretty much. The 6 wheeler being lighter will give more payload overall being lighter, but it depends on want you want out of the truck when running solo.

I’d need the truck to be able to carry as much as possible when solo. 20t ideally. But lots of these 8 levers now seem so heavy

A friend of mine ran a 6wheel foden tipper with a turntable drag for years. Could get it places you wouldn’t fit an artic but carry same (handy for split loads too!)

I’m sure a local tarmac contractor to me runs an 8 wheeler with a close coupled trailer.

Tipper I`d guess? Sensible spec and go easy on chrome light bars and spotlights, and you should still just squeeze 20t 🤣
Yes, tipper. Would want it to carry 20t ideally. But lots of tippers I use are over 12.5t tare, and that’s with no visible frills and alloy wheels.

I remember an old iveco a bloke had round here, insulated body and a 21t payload! Where did it all go wrong....

Used to be an outfit near me had 2 8 wheelers with bulk bodies on, wasn't uncommon on local muckaway jobs to be near 30 ton payload 🤣 also v efficient at changing springs 🤣🤣

Cheaper than pickups by far
I'd love to run a shorty 7.5 in preference to a pick up ....... but 'she'd' not drive it. :ROFLMAO: .... even though she has a license to
make for a great runaround on private goods :giggle:
