No 3 rough idea would I be able to tow 3.5t trailer as well as part load, obviously each wagon will have different weights.

Wouldn't even need a vehicle and trailer.
This should carry a 2.7t machine buckets and also Wacker plate and tools

Just thinking izuzu with alloy sides around 3t load would suffice for a lot of our stuff and hopefully still reasonably good on fuel

The steel sided insulated tarmac version of that iveco carries nearly 4 tonnes.
The train weight of 7.5t wagons will always allow the wagon to run full weight and the trailer to run full weight. Pickups only cut down on the train weight as a bit of a cheat.

That sounds good, fed up of running to the max, I've been looking at pickups etc but still running at max capacity. The 7.5s look good value compared to 3.5t .
I'll have to do the maths see how it looks 👍🏼

Never assume.

There are some Dafs floating around with no towing capacity on the plating for insurance purposes.

I've not seen a 7.5t that will tow anything less than 3.5t. They have a train weight of 11t so your good to fill it up and tow the trailer

I will go with what I think I know.
1. Not sure
2. Yes
3. 7.5 + 3.5 = 11

most 7.5s are plated to 12t GTW .... but... over run braked trailers're limited to 3.5t max .. so would need coupled braking for over that and the cost of a 4.5t trailer just wouldn't warrant the little extra capacity gained (a 4.5t gross trailer'd weigh substantially more than a 3.5t over run)

But you are into O license territory.

I will stick with my 3.5ton Iveco and the digger on the trailer and running under exemption.

Not that healthy, somewhere between 3k and 4k for first vehicle then I think it's around 1k for every extra.

I put off getting o license for far too long, best thing I ever did was bite the bullet
3 to 4k you should be able to bankroll that if you can't you've either just started out, spending or not charging to enough

I was referring to @6feetdown post suggesting running a 7.5t and trailer to split the load between. The iveco daily would do it in a single go so no need for a trailer so the possibility of no extra license. Or do the extra license and can carry a 3t dumper on the trailer.
But in reality if doing a new license then 12-16t is better bet.

My old boy “uncle” who used to work for me was full hgv was real handy and towed so much better than pickups etc.

When we can afford farm etc with somewhere to park it I think something like this would be ideal for the work we are now doing.

5 tonner on trailer hiab short wheelbase 18 tonner etc

Out of curiosity, anyone know what could potentially be towed behind an 8 wheel tipper?
