4x4 pickups or iveco's that will tow 3.5 ton

I’ve just sold a td5 I really really disliked it for some reason but I’ve got 2 or 3 300tdis that are used most days on agg limited use and don’t mind them.
the Amazon I’ve had is tidy underneath so it’s up on the 2 poster getting undersealed and chassis etc filled to try and preserve it. I’m hoping I don’t need to buy another tow car for a few years. It helps that I’ve got another 100 series for spares sat in the yard,complete but with shagged gearbox that some one abandoned
last landcrusier here did 400k

I'm the same, would take the 300tdi over TD5 anyday. Found the TD5 utterly gutless for towing. Torque curve is all wrong IMO but supposedly more power than the 300. Just a very unexciting engine. Something I've noticed about the Shogun is the colosal amount of bushes and moving parts involved in the general drivetrain compared with good old beam axles on landrover. Not sure how that will all hold up over the long term- certainly doesn't appear as robust as landrover on first glance.

I didn't have any troubles with bushes in 4-5 years, just brakes. They were a bit small and wear out quickly cos it handles like a car.
On the flip side it means you can have proper sized wheels and tires,16's.
I'm Really not a fan of the 20" wheels on the range rover but can't go small because of the brakes.
Not driven a 300tdi but have been looking and a lot seam to have rotten rear arch in the rear door shut.

The discos are really bad for it, had the same thing when my mate was looking for one, we went and viewed a few but either rotten or badly welded

Id sell mine if anyone was interested. Body work is straight but chassis needs either welding or if long term would re-chassis it. £6500+ vat

I emailed them on that about mine, but they said it only applied to 2015 onward as mine was a `13 it would`nt be effected Reading this has reminded me to give them some mither.

Seen this posted today not sure if it will help or not...

With regard to the 2015 and earlier. Once ford have said no you are within your rights to go to the motoring ombudsman for there view by opening a case. Load up all your information photos and submit an independent motor engineers report. Or even better a DEKRA report as DEKRA are the agreed independent engineers for the ombudsman and ford agreement.
Obviously you can reference the current post 15 works being done.

Just to update this got in contact with Ford who I might add where pretty on the ball with this not surprisingly mines is now in the que for treatment, said it could be up to 6 months wait as all Uk centres for this are at capacity. @Brendan how bad was the chassis on yours as they have said about two possible treatments 1 being a military grade waxoyl stuff which I’m assuming is for nearly new rangers and second is a full strip down body off sandblast and repaint job?

Military grade waxoyl is it made in the Ukraine and thats why Putin underestimated them

Mine was fairly bad the first time but two half arsed blow overs later it was starting to fail again. Go for the strip down, otherwise bits will be missed as think they only paint what's accessible, plus they tend to replace the lead springs and front and rear shocks plus engine guard and sump if it's showing signs of failing. Have heard them offering new chassis replacement but apparently puts a rebuild marker on your v5. Plenty seem to be upset with that, saying will devalue the pickup, no one will finance it etc etc. Personally don't think it would be really any less, if the vehicle is a few years old most will be buying cash or unsecured loan anyway, plus doesn't devalue them defenders when they have had a new chassis. Fair enough they are getting on now but those hateful things would still fetch strong money

Yea bfg tyres I love them to be honest so far have about 16k on them and you’d hardly think they have been used. I tried hankooks and grabbers but can’t get the same last on them.. and a wee secret I got them over the border from me in the republic for €200 a tyre lol when the £ was brilliant compared to the €..full set brand new cost me at that time about £720 sterling I was happy enough to be honest..

Read through that and thought christ them tyres were dear, then thought about it it'll 7/8 years and about 45000 miles since i put them on my hilux so they will have gone up
