Just depends how the engine is mounted whether or not you have access. Otherwise you need to take the carb off. Not a big job either way.

My first bike on the road was a C100 Cub ... Hodna 50 to the uninitiated ... stepthru 3 sp auto ... was a great little thing ACY 533B .... yeh '64 ... took 3mm off the top of the slide and would do 55 mph .... which for one of them was like fitting NOS (N2O)Mate of mine did that with a boat motor but filed just a little too much off the throttle stop so it used to run a bit too hot

Boss bought a rough terrain walk behind mower. Basically a smaller version of your Dane but without the footplate and no steering function. Had a a gearbox and we all repeatedly told him clutch was squeeze to go. So he decided to take it for a spin. He started it up and then yanked the gear lever straight into top gear the clutch engaged. The mower took off and sent him flying. The handles got yanked out his hands,the mower stopped but he didn't and went piling straight into the back of it. Infront of a dozen staff members

as said ... the go pedal/lever is totally counter-intuitive ... 'til your head gets itself around it, you're squeezing like **** trying to get it to slow down

That was my issue anchor was grounding out and it was raining so ramps were wetyeh .. bet it was interesting viewing

trying to decide today whether yon Deutz is 12 or 24v .... everything that came with it/off it's donor was 12v so thought I'd give the Mog a call and see if he could remember .... he couldn't for sure and suggested a gander at the starter, which i'd already considered and a tel.con. with Paul had seemed an easier first option
so a gander it was .... after eyeballing the alternator first ....
followed by the glow plug timer relay 
and then the starter,
which lives behind the air ducting 
sadly the numbers're not visible and I sure as **** was not taking it off to confirm what I was pretty sure I knew already .... Mog was fairly sure it was 12v, but couldn't be positive.
the reasoning behind all this was that i wanted to make it a battery carrier frame ... and decide WTF to put it ... here was my favorite spot ....
for a large lump of Varta's finest and still leave room for a second alongside if needed (which i hope it ain't - one's dear enough!!)
wanted to get this sorted as I had sussed everything else i need to create for this and wanted to pull it to bits to firm the chassis up ....
motor out/off ...
and relocated to a temporary home for a while ...
followed by the oil tank ... had to lean it against summat for a while ...
leaving me with ...
so I could flip it around a bit for consolidating it
cleaning it all up and ...... you know .... the usual ....
coat or three of shiny tish ... get the motor back onto it tomorrow ..... after I've had use of the full bench top, to lop up a sheet of CR4, to create a fuel tank .. having sussed how/where to put it and still have space for the not insignificant air filter (read that as 'kin large )

frustrating day ... wasn't able to get out 'til gone eleven, sorting paperwork for 'the boss' ... boots on - about to go out the door and a truck pulls up outside ... " WTF is this? " looked at the driver and it's John, the guy who used to own our place, the farm and worked it all ... emigrated to Oz in the late 80,s and always calls to see us when he's over .... had only been talking about him yesterday, when Pam'd been told he was thinking about coming over to see his 95 yr old mother. Damn me he's here!!
so that ****ed a couple of hours ... but nice to see him and his daughter
He'd not been gone ten minutes and Pam's sister and her hubby arrived ... three of 'em off to a funeral at 2.45 .. I opted out o' that one ... last three in the local church have produced 30 odd cases of covid each time .. so sod that!!
So was 2.30 by the time I got to me bench and stuck the subframe/chassis on the deck, out me way
so's I could have the bench .... hauled this out the box ....
and onto the bench .... just about creased me getting the damned thing in there when it was delivered ... could used to chuck these about, nae bother - getting old
the makings of a fuel tank ... 2.5m x 1.25m x 3mm CR4 .. no mill scale .... had already sorted the design and nesting, so set about it with a thin disc ... didn't want to plasma it .. and risk distortion
between the 'funeral party's' return .. more socialising ... and general faffing, was gone tea time by the time I'd finished creating the flat pack
Oh for my guillo ... ten minutes tops to knock them out
all de-burred and stashed indoors ready for assembly tomorrow, after a couple of flange plates and mounts to cut and make up
Paul the Hermes guy'd arrived, whilst I'd been with the SIL/BIL, after they'd gotten back, with this ..
(commentary in the "what did you buy today" thread) and having found the door wide open, as it was so warm(ish) here today, proceeded to tell me about the elderly lady who lives close to the top of our drive, who was the victim of a 'distraction burglary', Bank holiday Monday ..
had been out gardening, when some guy had come into the garden supposedly asking directions, whilst his mate had presumably been in her place, relieving her of her valuables (jewelry/money) ... one of several that day in the area.
we'd been to town that day for eye tests and a bit of a supermarket foray ... had gotten back maybe 2.5 hrs later to find a large pile of pretty fresh dog tish on the lawn ....
there are no dogs here (or any footpaths/public ROWs) and I'd been puzzling this the last couple of days ...
assuming we'd had 'visitors' whilst out ...
looks like we may have had a close call, perhaps? but all is always as secure as it can be when we're not here (short of a few laser cannons )
As I have said before .... want balls to wander down here, to an unknown reception ... and I wouldn't hesitate to deal with scum bags severely .. always got plenty to hand to use
Anyway .... assuming the forecast is to believed ... will get said tank assembled hopefully and mounted tomorrow
