****ing computers !! ....back on steam again tonight:rolleyes: .jeez it is slow :(

was going to be one of those days
WP_20220421_13_33_58_Pro.jpg

Pam'd been wielding her favorite weapon when it suddenly wasn't doing what it does best - kill grass...
pretty rapidly sussed the main suspect .... zero drive to the head .... caused by ....:(

WP_20220421_13_34_07_Pro.jpg
WP_20220421_13_34_11_Pro.jpg

this was going to take some sorting .... particularly as the bloody thing was a hollow tube about a mil thick, squashed into a square :(
so .... fill the hole for starters ...
WP_20220421_13_43_38_Pro.jpg

after I'd ground it down to size to fit and hammered it home, 'fore lopping the head off it and giving it some hot stick treatment ....:)
this was thin ... but got there ... and sadly this is a tad out of focus ...:(
WP_20220421_14_10_31_Pro.jpg

but worked a treat :giggle:(y) Husqy back together to fight another day ... L.E.S. were quoting 50 quid for a new one ... but didn't have one :(

next up was Dane time ....
was gonna do it yesterday, but the battery that'd been on charge for a day (and had been kept up over the winter -- no, I ain't going there ;):ROFLMAO:) was lacking in the kick in the boll*x dept , sufficiently to wind her over enough, to wake the Dane from its slumbers, so I'd ordered a new one on line yesterday, after sussing a price locally, at 57 quid, with only a 1 yr warranty .... I thought £42 with next day and 2 years sounded a lot better, for a better battery .... (y):giggle:
WP_20220421_15_45_27_Pro.jpg

heart sank when I see it had been entrusted to ****ing Yodel, but I was amazed when it arrived at lunchtime, despite tracking reporting it was still in the Nantgarew depot at 12.00 :mad:
so ....
WP_20220421_15_45_16_Pro.jpg

out he came for an assault on the grass bank beside the drive way .. Dane versus 8-10" of green stuff
the match/assault/battle was going well 'til about half time, when it suddenly became Grass 1 - Dane :(
WP_20220421_16_24_55_Pro.jpg

mental note to self .. take the belt off for over - wintering .. 's one hell of a Zebedee putting up sooooome struggle with it ... took some fighting back on after installing a new one from stock ;):giggle:
WP_20220421_16_41_05_Pro.jpg

Druid rule #1 ... always have two spares in stock for each mower .... you just know you'll need one - usually on a Sunday :cry::censored:
so by the end of the match, was Dane 2 - grass 1 ..... got it all mowed 😁(y)
WP_20220421_18_08_06_Pro.jpg
before I'd finished the tricky bank on t'other side of the drive, Pam'd appeared with a rake ... I was gonna leave it dry a day or two, make it a bit lighter ... but there were heaps poping up all over
WP_20220421_17_33_42_Pro.jpg

so parked the Dane and grabbed a barrow... 6 solidly stuffed/packed barras later
WP_20220421_18_07_59_Pro.jpg

got about a third of it sorted by tea time ....
WP_20220421_18_09_58_Pro.jpg

the rest is a mañana jobbie ...... 's a lorra grass :unsure::censored: and i was well and truly bloody 'ungry

Druid, you have been told to get a Mac  How long are you going to put up with crappy Windows PC's with outdated Intel CPU's?
Since the new Apple Silicon chips came out in all the Macs, I've sold over one hundred of them with zero problems with the hardware or the Operating System. Way faster than 95% of all computers on the market, double the battery life in the laptops and very price competitive overall.

When you buy a computer that uses other company's hardware bits it has no control of, and then another company's Operating System they also have no control over, it's a recipe for continuous problems and a short usable lifespan. The heat generating Intel CPU's cause a lot of thermal expansion and contraction which eventually crack solder joints causing random faults and eventual premature failure.

The Apple Silicon CPU's have minimal thermal issues even at full CPU usage and security is way ahead of Windows as it's built into the hardware and the OS. Apple controls the hardware, CPU's and the Operating System, a fully vertically integrated computer system for the best in performance and reliability.

Yeah of course I'm going to say all this as I've sold Apple computers for the last 20 years, but my experience has been through my customers, many of whom have come from Windows and would never go back!

Probably just needs a thermal paste reapplication as pc manufacturers don't always put enough on and it drys out and cracks and bung in a larger CPU cooler with some RGB fans built in while your there

Seriously?? You have a relatively new computer you have to bodge up with thermal paste and put bigger heatsink/fans in because the manufacturer was unable to figure this out?
You really are supporting my case for the Druid getting a Mac :D Never encountered this sort of dodgy manufacturing in Apple gear.

I don’t feel so bad about the mess I made of my lawn last week. The electrical high adjuster failed and the lawn was scalped so low it would not mulch. Tried running in my the small push mulched over the mess without any joy and even with the box on it want picking up. Turned the mower over to find the blades folded back and doing next to nothing.
Mower blade sharpening chez tilty house this weekend!!

Hardly a bodge up when thermal paste (cheep stuff ) drys out sooner and all CPUs have it regardless of brand just Dell does cheep out on stuff like that plus druid did say he had it all apart a while ago so if he took the fan/cooler off he should have cleaned off and reapplied it probably why he's getting cooling issue

where's this come from? Not having any ... always runs quiet, cool and fans have never kicked in other than an initial run at start up that is very audible. this is currently a software issue, yesterday.

If I'm not mistaken this is not the first time this computer has failed. It sounds like it's stuffed/a lemon to me.
Maybe I'm just used to a reliable brand of computers ;)
