possible boom light wiring then as you have obviously disturbed that whilst cleaning/isolating/insulating ... luck of the draw whilst using it and 'praps, however you parked it, shorted it again??????? ... it's progress of sorts -- it's now intermittent ;)
trace the cabling back, paying particular attention around the king post and anything tight in the routing ..... if you can trace it back to its source and are able to - disconnect it ;) if you can determine the live line try a meter reading to earth?
i think i might just pull it out completely seeing as i dont have a light on it

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better

well you might want one when it's darker days/evenings, but not a difficult proposition to replace ...... make sure you can trace it all the way first though so you can get all of it and at least eliminate that circuit

really depends what they're running, but wouldn't do any harm .. especially as it now appears to be intermittent ... or for the couple of quid, bang 4 new basics in ... could pick them up in most supermarché over there .... I'm still hedging my bets on a wire issue ---- which're bar stewards to find :cry:

To be fair a canopy 801 is about as basic as you'll get for wiring on a modern machine so may be awkward and time consuming but can't be that bad even if you have to pull most the loom out.

It’s what I do!
Just the boom wiring, like Druid I would look around the parts that get the most movement, the king post and from there to the supply point.

If your diagrams are the same as the black one in the picture, then they have diodes!i in the picture it shows a little oblong between point1 and 2, and another above it that is showing a diode.
