I guess I've just been lucky. But I've yet to replace a Makita battery in a good 5 years or so. And that's been used outside in the wet/cold and mud much of the time. Same battery used for nice dry internal works might have an even better life.

The 2 batteries of mine that have packed in (charger has decided are faulty so won't charge them) were both nearly 15 year old when they stopped working.

Why do you say Milwaukee impacts are so much better than Mak. Me and a mate have the top end 3/4 " drive of both respective brands. The Milwaukee claims to way outperform the mak but we tried a variety of real life situations and could see any difference in performance and the mak was the cheaper of the two..

Tbf I have the Makita 1/2 compact, it's absolutely great but there is no denying the Milwaukee feels more solid in the hand. Never actually had a chance to use one so don't know how performance compares. And the Makita does everything I want

We’re very heavy users, as in constant use every day, of 3/8”, 1/2” and 1” impact guns, equal numbers of Milwaukee and Makita, and we’ve found there’s nothing to choose between either the batteries or the weapons. They get nicked equally. As for DeWalt, that yellow plastic must be expensive, because there’s nothing else about them to warrant the cost.

You can buy battery adapters so can use makita batteries in milwauke etc, so not stuck to same make,

milwalkee gear is too heavy weight wise ,i have 10 to 15 items of makita ,10 batteries ,batterys dont like the cold .but i have batterys 5 years and older going strong.have never sent a unit back as a warrenty claim,but stuf does just get worn out ,hammer drills especially ,my mate the sparky is a milwalkee man and gives his kit some work ,but has sent planty back under warrenty

New Stihl ones just launched if you feeling flush . I'll be the outlier and say I love my Stihl but it has got the big battery which lasts for ages..
Tried DeWalt but was crap...no anti vibe etc sent it back

I have the MSA 220 with 2 x 300s bats. I love it.

I think I would love the MSA 300 with the 500 bats more but cant afford to change.

Very tempted to get an EGO pro saw as I have 2 x 56v 5ah bats.

Got my eye on the 220T...looks like stihls come back to the husky topper which up to now was loads better.

Other thing is if you dont have relevant tickets you can't buy the top handle Stihl but you can buy the Makita ..wtf blue doesn't obviously bite as much

I wouldn't routinely use my 201t one handed as it does always feel that it is waiting its chance to get me, the battery makita on the other hand feels absolutely safe one handed. Probably a combination of the batteries giving better balance, the chain being less aggressive and chain speed being lower.

I really do think that my little electric topper is safer used one handed than my 50cc ground saw on small diameter firewood branches

On bigger wood nothing quite beats a 70cc saw on a short bar with the rakers on the low side for grin factor

Just started on the 54v dewalt stuff, got a SDS to test the water, so much better than my 18v and even the 110v corderd version! Had makita for years before but lost afew batteries which went pop, so started to sway away from them… more so after hearing about them explode!!!

Got the 6 and 9ah bats.
Pretty heavy but I've only got the bigger tools like cut off saw, mixer and compressor. The battery would feel heavy under a combi drill or small grinder I reckon.
Had a weird thing with mine tho...come to use it and down to 1 bar after not been used... Right pain.

Used the mixer today to knock up some concrete for a little job. Ruddy handy bit of kit and very powerful.

I find it hard to credit we have four whole pages on the nuances of battery chainsaws in a very short space of time ! ....
wonder how many of 'em'll be around as long as my good ol' 028 ...
or even have batteries available for them if they are ?????

Gives u an idea of the size, 9ah is a brute what in earth the 12 etc is like.
