The 2 batteries of mine that have packed in (charger has decided are faulty so won't charge them) were both nearly 15 year old when they stopped working.I guess I've just been lucky. But I've yet to replace a Makita battery in a good 5 years or so. And that's been used outside in the wet/cold and mud much of the time. Same battery used for nice dry internal works might have an even better life.
