Any recommendations for a decent battery grease gun ?

I might be wrong but I thought you could use the screw-in cartridges but you need an adaptor.
It's funny isn't it. You buy cordless grease guns and then ur disappointed cos its missing the best feature from the grease gun you should have bought in the first place. End of the day cordless or not if its a job you don't like doing it ain't gonna make it any more exciting for ya.

I got better things to do than pump grease manually! The MultiOne in particular has one heck of an appetite for grease, battery grease guns are a ‘no going back’ thing for me regardless of mess. My greasing routine always starts with a bit of blue roll and some disposable gloves, you have to expect to get a bit messy.

I'd be round you're machine's with grease gun as quick as you with your cordless and you've got nowt that needs more than 3 pumps at most so it's not exactly hard work. As for mess the only bit that grease should come out of is the fitting on the end of the gun so provided you've got the right one/one's there should be no mess (the reason I use 2 grease guns). There's probably more grease wasted with cordless guns because you can't hear what's going on so just pump plenty in as well.

I’ve got a couple of the screw-cartridge grease guns, loads of regular ones, G-couplers, standard couplers etc etc. As you say, you ideally need a couple of different ends to do everything ‘easily’, so a couple of guns makes sense.
The issue for me is having the right gun in the right place - there are some in the shed, some on machines, and now this Makita in my truck (which I hoped was going to be my one-and-only-solution).
I’m going to stick a g-coupler on it and have a loose short hose with a nipple on one end and a regular coupler on the other and see how I get on - screw on cartridges would transform it though.

I don't understand how normal cartridges make such a mess for people. As doobins says wear disposable gloves but even without them I can stay clean.
No reason to touch a used cartridge. Use protruding bold to pull it 3/4 the way out the flick it in the rubbish bag. Job done

I put G Couplers on my Makita guns, which I like a lot. Just be aware they are metric threads and not BSP when you order one 👍 iirc M10x1.0

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Right, so I tried Milwaukee. M12 first. Utter dogshit. Snails pace. Then M18. Better speed but still not as fast as my Makita drill operated model. Easier to bleed/airlocked less however. But both MIlwaukee guns have a fatal flaw. They keep oozing out for a second or so after you take the couple off the nozzle, even if you wait before removing, which drives me mad.

So yesterday the new Makita cordless turned up. First impressions are much better. Hellishly quick even on 'slow' speed- the second setting is apparently automatic, where it matches the speed to the resistance of the nipple. Sure pisses out without being attached. It's heavy- and the speed setting does something in the pump rather than change the motor speed, so lookes like a ground up redesign of the pump system.

The bleed screw is nice and easy to use. Still seemed a bit airlocked though (first catridge), but it has a lock for the trigger. If you leave it locked and pumping then walk away, it's guaranteed to start flowing! 🤣 Everywhere. At the rate it pumps, it didn't take long to fill the hose.

So does anyone want a second hand M12 or M18 grease gun?
so you rate those drill mounts then @doobin .... been considering one for ages, but just can't seem to be able to justify 'motorising' the job for the amount I need to do ... one of those'd be useful occasionally if they're decent enough

Can't see the attraction of electric grease gun lol

I've got the Milwaukee m18 and it's a hateful thing.
JCB grease cartridge always gets sucked into the holder so I have to unscrew the opposite end, remove the plunger to get it out.
To be fair I probably use too much grease, I leave it set on 4 pumps and just keep going till grease starts moving around the pins.
I have kept all the greasing down to 10 hours on the clock rather than everyday

To be fair my life improving change of grease gun may have had as much to do with stopping using jcb blue grease so you could try that. I think you need cartridges with a lip the whole way round the top.

Anyone using battery grease guns ? What’s working well without air locking all the time ?
one would be handy for greasing drivetrain and steering . I want to be able to hold head on nipple with a bit of force and pull the trigger at the same time
I have a Milwaukee and am very pleased with it. One small but very useful addition is the clip on grease nipple attachment. Good ones are not cheap but worth the money. Can grease a digger in no time also great for refitting and tensioning tracks.

they are ok, but can be a pain to bleed.
How about a very lightly used Milwaukee m12? 🤣

Really a micro needs that much grease. Do you only greaee once a year? Other than kingpost even my 9 tonner if done regular enough rarely needs more than 3.

Probably grease every ten hours or so, more when working in s**t conditions.

Embrace technology mate, it’ll do you good! 🤣 It’s all about making life easy. You can keep your rsi from trying to pump a stiff fitting with a pistol grip grease gun. No sooner have I connected the makita then it’s pumped and on to the next one. My blokes appreciate me making it easy too so it’s more likely to be done.

No the mess is a backwards step. I used to use when in the yard an air grease gun i still have it for occasional use on something that won't take grease (nothing at the moment). Ok not as portable as the cordless being that it needs plugged into an airline but the principle is exactly the same and i can't see any advantage thus far unless you're greasing 20 tonners + on a regular basis tbh. Each to their own though.
