rebated fuel is always going to be dye marked .. end of
Giles,s aren't going to have to apply for a rebate ... it'll be bought rebated .. and their consumption scrupulously monitored ... they (HMRC) have well over a decade plus of records to draw on, for every user/buyer in the country, who purchases more than 100 ltrs at a time, courtesy of HMRC RDCO Newcastle and all us 'plebs' who have had to monitor/police it since its inception, who provided them with this info. :(
HMRC have more power than any authority in the country and can turn up day or night, slap a lock on your gate/door/vehicle, etc. and impound / stop you using/trading/whatever at the drop of a hat .... and you have to fight to prevent it ...... they are a law unto them selves and a force not to be pissed about with

As an example a lot of farms have both red and white tanks. A lot also have 3/4 private cars (2 or 3 kids, wifes car etc) and these are often diesel. How they gonna know which tank they are using if no dye and how the f**k do they know how much fuel a tractor uses. It'd be quite easy to cheat the system as long as not too greedy and if you repeat that across every farm in the country its a lotta fuel duty.
That's my take on it too, how are they going to police it for farmers now? An open invite to use "rebated" fuel.
They will basically be clocking tractors to put more hours on them now🤣🤣🤣

they're going to have to have serious and tangible evidence of any cause for increased consumption Aiden ...

Had long chat with good mate of mine today...runs a decent size outfit here ..
Rumour has it HMRC been looking at records for last couple of years ...they know what a typical say 120 acre farm uses normally...and will be observing very closely the next 12 months.
Talk is its going to very tightly scrutinised and policed...
Like already said it will make the tractor brigades prices jump and at the mpg they do secondhand tipper wagon prices gonna jump.
So there is a possibility the spotlight on red could also make certain other practices harder to get away with .🤷
But ultimate point is the whole things a farce regards environment as stuff still needs to be done and last time I checked there ain't many 13t battery machines knocking about😏

they will have scrupulous records from all the RDCOs on the country's consumption for at least the last decade and a half ..... When the RDCO scheme was set up they took on 1000 staff to admin it ... any and all fluctuations of regular supplies will be jumped on

" The statement from HMRC added: "You will need to retain evidence to confirm the correct fuel has been put into the fuel tank.

"HMRC will consider what purpose the vehicle or machine was being used for at the time of inspection and whether this was an allowed purpose."

It added that vehicles found running red diesel could be seized. "

Does anyone know of any petitions regarding the removal of this rebate for construction industry? I feel like we should be being more proactive
boat has sailed on that one @vin ... all sorts have had a go ...... they're hell bent on it happening
the revenue generated for them will make a weekly lottery win, daily, look like pocket change
