Same old thing as soon as there's govt money up go the prices. To be fair to properly integrate in to a house as a replacement for gas or oil boiler isn't cheap and involves a fair amount of work.

A huge amount including insulation, mechanical ventilation, underfloor heating and backup electric heat elements to do the hot water. Air source isn’t a magic wand by far and requires quite a drastic change in how you heat your home to work properly

Looking to install ground source heat oneday, seems to be the way forward if you have the space to do it!

Works well if done right.

Get the full length runs in.... Works better in waterlogged ground too.
Ground conditions makes a big difference as you say with ground source. It still is no magic wand for free heat like they try and tell you though it is more efficient than air source. The thing about heat pumps is they tell you they've been used for years in scandanavian countries and canada as if they know more about heating homes efficiently and cheaply than we do. The reality is they don't have the gas network and have properties spread out and more isolated and don't have the oil wagon going round delivering so its just what they use instead.

Couldn’t agree more . I’ve been involved with loads of installations and best performing are ground source. You need the space though and a field is obviously more economic than a manicured garden to reinstate
