i can’t understand building a machine to a crap standard for “homeowners”. How does that build the standing of a marque? You‘d be a tad ruffled if you spent six grand for a machine that died halfway through a build and couldn’t get parts or support. I think my 14 year old K008 stands a fair chance of outperforming one of these, without that single cylinder engine vibrating my Emma Freuds to kingdom come.
Its not a credible argument. I know that, you know that.

Look back on Facebook over the last 12 plus months nothing to suggest the CT08 and NOW the CT10 are for DIYers. There is a video of a CT08 breaking rocks in a quarry. What's that then punishment for being a naughty digger.

So when can we pick it up for a spin?

I had the same conversation with another forum member who was doing a bit of defending.

Personally If Carter UK wanted to build the brand they shouldn't of ever considered importing anything remotely substandard. By Bringing Micky and Mini Mouse into the country that "aren't suitable for anything more than domestic use" they devalue what is being touted as a brand as good as anything else..... It's not quite the same as Lumag as the latter is never going to be a premium brand nor is it sold as such..... But Carter is being thrown out in the bigger gear as "as good as the rest"

It's a bit like Lidl...... Some stuff is great, others mediocre..... But regardless Mediocre is the reputation.
Being that other forum member I now find that I have had more time to reflect. I can certainly see that if these issues with the CT 08 are as the posters claims it still poses the is it fit for purpose argument. Whoever is using it, it still has to be able to dig and track.
I don’t get the rationale of I only hire to householders. They are still digging holes. I am still not sure of the wisdom in buying cheap expecting to hire out and make money. As others have been saying about Chinese made, my limited experience is limited as I once purchased 2 cheap new diesel generators from what I thought was a reputable dealer. On day 2 when they broke down he said “if you wanted reliable you should have brought a Honda!”. That was probably 20 years ago and has limited my experience to date.
This whole conversation does remind of other bits of good advice given to me over the years.
Buy sh!t, buy twice.
Buy quality, you can always sell quality, you can’t always give sh!t away!

Unfortunately you can't at the moment. She worked a little too hard during its last hire 2 weeks ago. Had three nervous breakdowns including an early Sunday morning wobbler thrown. Doctors decided she had to be sectioned and so she's been locked in a padded unit. Unlocked in the forlorn belief someone may want to steal her. But she's rather acting as a deterrent

She's been opened up and it not pretty. We think she was born like that. We got her up yesterday, some slight movement in those tracks, but nothing since we inserted the 10mm plates, so that 17mm of padding rather than 7.

We can now turn her on and off using the ignition. Oh the wonders of modern engineering.

She's then got a few more days of R and R before 3 days of tests on someone drive. I'll go with her. Cannot let her out on her own at the moment.

I didn't want to name you but needed to raise the point.

Biggest thing for me is the rule of buying what the locals buy....

Sany, Zoomlion, XCMG, LCMG and SDLG are where it's at in Crispy Fried things that rhyme with Cat land..... of those Sany are the only ones venturing out globally.... makes sense, Sany are as big as Volvo..... I think XCMG also have ventured into the world but not landed in these coasts.

How many Carters are in there home market? I could be wrong perhaps they are actually a rebadged one of the above 5 but I doubt it....

But quite why anyone building a brand would contemplate bringing shite in is beyond me.

All this time you are wasting trying to fix it is time you could spend actually making money.

One of the most overlooked skills in business is knowing when to cut your losses mate. If it runs and drives, get it on eBay and get on with your life.

Agreed. But it has to work before it goes up for sale.
Sure as night follows day the person who buys is going to on the blower.

If you have time on your hands, why not consider small claims against the dealer? It sure as heck isn't fit for purpose.
Well I did say to the Mrs perhaps I should call the Daily Mail have a sad face and a digger that won't dig holes.
"World First- Man Bought Digger That Caught Covid Coming Out Of China.

Its the Carter Digger Variant. (CDV-CT08) kills all known diggers dead. Eventually when it succumbs it's even struggles to dig its own grave. So a strong shovel is advisable.

People need to realise that dealers of this stuff are basically barrow boys. They are buying twenty in a container-all they care about is shifting the next unit.

I wrote a huge reply to this extent. It’s all on the dealer. At this level they could be great they could also be complete tosh.

I’m confused by the hired-in-plant insurance argument. The OP won’t hire to commercial users as none carry this insurance - surely domestic customers don’t either?
