Hanix was a brand that should of done better

Couldn’t fault that micro one I had, was still working after what looked like a few thousand hard hours with previous owner! Maybe not moving with the times fast enough, like no expanding tracks on some of the 1.5t machines etc. Edit: haven’t they gone bang a couple of times now?

Apparently they offer guaranteed buy back for 3 years on new Sunward - not sure at what rate but maybe an attempt to keep resale prices up? 2.5t is 21k, ZTS version 23k plus vat
And in what condition is the buy back needed to be in!!

Ok I'll say it....I'm tempted coz they cheap...but then again that's the way everything goes...chinks come in undercut everyone else ..we know they not as good but we put up with it ..

But is there the question to be answered here? Do we want to bow and rely on the the Chinks ...dont know about everyone else but I know in our business we've been studying our supply chains to avoid China where ever we can over the last 12 months.and what a blessing...lot of folk having MAJOR hassle and delays with ANYTHING out if China atm..

Same as what the Koreans did to the Jap's..... and the Jap's did to the European Manufacturers.

Only difference being the japs were building mini diggers first. But re cars bikes etc I'll agree. But they took our crap built cars copied them, without the problems and unreliability and sold them to us and our car industry couldn't step up to compete. Remains to be seen if the chinks can do it. So far a lot of their copying is of lower quality.

That looks a well built machine. (In pictures anyway) and well specced. If it was painted in different colours and you stuck different stickers on it people would be all over it!
I fact I'm pretty sure they built mini excavators for Atlas now!

But as for Chinese... na you can keep it, I don't think they are in it for the long run, five years time they'll be worth nothing and if they do pull the plug parts will be impossible to get!

I try it avoid anything from China as best a possible now! (Yes I know rhe fone I'm typing on was likely built there😄)

I think they are up to something crazy and I'm pretty sure they started this virus deliberately!

China manufacturing is an interesting subject and I import quite a bit from China. They can engineer as good as the rest of them but it always comes down to cost. As an example one of the items I have made over there is a toothbrush and get 50k manufactured a time to my own design, packed in a blister pack. These currently cost me 0.13 USD / unit. They are high quality and have never (touch wood) had a single problem or return. I have never knocked the factory down on price. I know if I wanted I could cut the manufacturing price at least half but with consequences. Lower grade materials would be used in manufacture, processes would be missed and/or sped up and no quality control at the end. The manufacturer knows I want a top quality product with all the certification and that I am willing to pay the premium for that. That said it is still a fraction of what I could get it made for in the UK (if I could get one made here!). At the other end, a mate of mine used to have digital cameras made for him out there. They were very, very low end budget cameras, manufactured at the cheapest price possible and came in a blister pack. If I remember rightly I think they retailed for about 20quid. He worked on 40% returns as faulty. It was more profitable for him to throw away 40% including all the man hours and postage dealing with that than get them made to a higher quality. It's a fascinating market. Now back onto plant, I'm sure the Chinese could manufacture an excavator that could match up to all the known brands and even be better if they wanted to and retail at a fraction of the cost of current machines, and they might! The danger is finding that manufacturer and who's going to put their hand in their pocket first to test the water and risk getting stung. Then of course there's the problem of does the product you bought even resemble the pre production sample that was sent to you or tried out (that's a whole nuther story)!

Just to echo what Charlie has said, a firm I do a little haulage for, has machinery made for them in china, and the owner was telling me the Chinese, will produce to what ever spec you want, but he said you need to keep regular checks on quality, he has someone who can speak the lingo, and regularly visits the factory.

I've heard similar from someone who has stuff made over there. They also don't seem to want to understand why people want things made a certain way or from certain materials sometimes.

Yeah, he was saying if you don't check, then the revert to their way of doing things, or (cheaper) materials.

It's where the copying falls down if they try and make it from cheaper materials or cut machining costs etc. Thing with the japs and more recently the Koreans (who are still learning) they worked out how stuff worked and how to improve it, the chinks aren't doing that yet.
