'cos the likes of EMR are not gonna take a drum full of compo ... an' it's a hell of a lump when set ......... plus a lot easier to deal with the chassis cab once emptied

I get that, but if your destroying it, then take the drum full away and knock it apart with a pecker imo, wouldn’t take long with a big 360, do it immediately and the concrete won’t put up much of a fight. Can’t see why you’d go to those lengths on the side of the road, not to mention the mess.

When dealing with the highways you have to do whatever is deemed quickest to open the carriage way especially if a main route
It would take a fair size crane to be brought in to lift that barrel loaded on to a low loader whereas the council have grab lorry's on 24hr a day call out so it's relatively simple to tidy up
They do have some bizarre ideas though

pulling the mixer back over full would take some doing, unless you had a large crane on site .... empty it's much less of a challenge ... see there's a set of lift chains around the drum in the vid ... obviously failed to upright it and are emptying it to upright it'd be my best guess

Ok so if it wasn't too high wouldn't be a problem obvs but why load that way round. Probably couldn't wrap arm up enough for step in trailer or truck cab.
