Amazing how a hot glob can make it into your boot and down to your toes without burning anything in between.

Was talking to an old boy a while back and he worked in a foundry. He said they used to have troughs of water about the place for this reason.

Nothing specifically plant related but I know some on here like old mechanical s**t...
I bought an ancient (but very original and fully functional) baler off eBay from Builth Wells so took the kids for a road trip to collect it.
Wasn’t certain it would go on the trailer but they were desperate to get out of the house so off we went, cross country via Craven Arms. (We really do live in a stunning country - I challenge anyone to find better inland scenery than along the Welsh borders by the way!!!).

Anyway, it turns out that a Bamford baler fits perfectly across a 12x6 Ifor (with a little overhang each side...). The seller was a true gentleman and even insisted on giving my kids a very generous tenner each ‘luck money’ - they really couldn’t believe their luck!

Got it home, saddled it up to the big-dog Ford 3000 and chucked some loose straw through it to see what it can do!

Yeah, proper old school!!!
I`ve got a couple of bl59 standards here, I think the `super` has a wider pick up reel, and some of the standards options, ratchet handle on the pick up reel height springs to mind.
I`ve got a manual here somewhere if you want to know any of the settings.

Superb, thanks! I’m sure I’ll be picking your brains as I’m very green when it comes to operating balers (definitely served my time following them though!).

Nipped yesterday afternoon between jobs to clear a barn out for a good customer - shift some buggerment and scrape up a few centuries of detritus;
Nice old barn and a big one I guess in the 1700's at about 400m2

Wow, now that’s a fair sized barn! Must be some serious timber in the roof!

Helping the local gardeners get a neglected garden back in control.... a dead ash and a monster green thing.that had taken over the house.

Makes the way these guys used to do these jobs seem like hard graft.
