4x4 pickups or iveco's that will tow 3.5 ton

What are single cab 4x4 pickups like for towing? Do they have a low first? I can't see any auto single cabs.

Auto single cabs do not exist. They are just the same gearing as any manual double cab.

Sigle cabs are also basic spec.

Years ago if they had done the single cab hilux with the 3.0...which again was for higher spec trucks....then id of bought one as single cab pick ups are alot better for me. The back seats only ever get used as a fancy coat store

I have also got the Old Discovery 1 300tdi auto through another MOT. Stripped the rear seats out this afternoon as they where well past there sell by date after the dog had chewed them. Gives me another “van” option that can tow the digger. It has served me well over the years and not ready to retire it just yet! I like the idea of the Rotodama but can’t justify the expense when the Iveco is still the better towing option with the 7000gtw.

Did you get a price for a Rotadama? Looking at their website they quote 'a maximum of £24,000 ex vat for a remanufactured Rotodama'. They must be out of their minds.

Even old common rail stuff (I have a 2007 Ranger) is just so much more powerful than any similar sized engine before.

The cab kit was around £12k fully assembled as they will not provide kits. I don’t spend that on replacement vehicles so for me not a viable option. Will keep the Iveco going for a while yet!!

Well my 3.0 iveco did me well today....magical mystry tour down some tight lanes, steep hills and steep hump back bridges. Nothing else would of done that and not spit dummy out.

Id always chose a truck over a pick up to tow any weight....even the old transhit feels safer than the lux but on paper the lux will tow a lot more.

well got a pull yesterday by our friends in blue " best follow us to the weigh bridge" well to cut a long story I was over weight to be fair my Kx27-4 with 3 buckets grab land rake and breaker just to say Isuzu d-max maxim train weight of 6000kg dose not give you a lot to play with this was one of the days only a few tools in the van no wacker or generator no cement or bags of sand the moral of this story is to be a wear of the weight of my kit. may be time to change my truck.

I don't think any of the pickups have a 7t train weight. Defenders used to but none of the Jap stuff. Nissan screwed up advertising the facelift model as having a higher train weight in their brochure but have since redacted that and people have got refunds on the back of it.
What did the Police say about your weight then? You would have been over on trailer weight alone I'd have thought with a grab, breaker and buckets

I was thinking going more for a full commercial 3.5t truck with a 7t train weight?

There is a reason I have the Iveco at 7500kg. I got pulled last week without the trailer and digger. Man in Blue said I had no insurance. Only recently renewed and was sure I had paid. Phone call to the NFU office and it turned out my Reg starting WA54 had been input as WK54. Really should have used the Whisky Alphas!

iveco does.

Doesnt double up as a runabout unfortunately but my choice after over a decade of pickups is the 7.5t and trailer if space needed, 11t GTW - ability to run a little bit of aggregate about and muck away if needed - much more on top of job than any pickup/defender.
