Can’t understand how they can do the joystick prop control on a 216 but not a 219 🧐 but then again I’m not surprised at Takeuchi one offers one thing another dealer offers something else
Cos the 219 is based on the 016 whereas the 216 is a lot newer design. I've seen some dealers off extra lines off the pedal on a 219 by using diverter valves etc. Probably a machine due an update to keep up with market trends but still selling in good enough numbers not to bother yet. Takeuchi probably want you to buy the 225 tbh if you want dual prop lines.

Fair enough 👍🏽 But surely if it’s from the factory they could do it ?

Issue is there is a attitude that "it's not possible" is a reasonable excuse.

Companies should strive to make anything within reason a possibility IMHO.
Yeah that might be true to some degree Rory. But ultimately the machine are built on a production line to a given choice of options. Anything outside of that means removing it from the line to assign somebody to do all the one off mods. Unless they are set up to work like this it's not cost effective for them and far too expensive for the customer. I'd rather be told no we won't do it then recieve a half arsed codge up done by a third party or dealer.

Here’s the thread, but a load of the pictures aren’t opening for me now.
This pic did pop up and shows most of the necessary -

So I moved around 100 tonnes with the machine today, dug and layed water main then covered with sand and backfilled, was digging through bolder clay no problems, ripping right through it with the 12” bucket on, got a 40 tonne pile to move tomorrow morning, overall really enjoying the machine, very strong hydraulics and think I’m managing to dig and shift about twice the amount I could have in the new Holland E18b :)(y)

get a narrow utility bucket will have to move half the crap then.

Problem is that a human being cant fit inside the track with a narrow utility bucket, they have their place but this job wasn't one of them.

That's completely right, the 219 is still the old 016 design which works, the 016 sold in large numbers and people were disappointed when production stopped and moved over to the 216, a lot of guys prefer the 016 to the 216, the 219 is like a 016 but offers so much more.
The sales rep that I dealt with said that Takeuchi might update the 219 next year.
Next thing to look at currently is the 225, they are coming in at £25000 +vat, come more equipped, have the controls that everyone seems to be having wet dreams about  also have air conditioning, worth noting that the 225 has no more reach than the 219 but is more powerful.

70l would be plenty for a daily fill of the majority of small plant digger/dumper combos, and no need for a bulky bowser or fuel cube, or messy re-purposed plastic drums, or slow-pouring awkward Jerry cans.
I like the way it contains the hoses etc to help stop getting everything tainted with diesel. There should be no real need to handle it when full as you’d just fill/empty it without removing it from the truck. And if you were doing one to go in the back of a van etc you could just increase the capacity by chopping less barrel off!!!

All very well truck mounted bowsers.... BUT will bump your premium up or if your not careful invalidate your insurance as it's intentionally carrying dangerous goods..... Can's on the other hand can be mentioned and won't affect your premium.

Most mini's will only sip 20L a day worst case. So a Can is no bother! the TB175 on bulking work has used 80L in two days

You'd have wet dreams about proportional servo controls on the joysticks too if you'd used them for the last five years and every other attachment you have other than a bucket has a hydraulic function (or two) ;) LIke I said to the Tak rep, most days I have a grab or a Powertilt on, and I'm using the aux every five seconds, often whilst tracking. Anything else is a major step backwards, and if I want a tilty in future I dont have to mess about with control systems, just plug and play.

When I have to use the grab or tilt on the micro, my knee is hurting after a few hours from jabbing the pedal. Granted, the E10 pedal wants some mods, but Im f***ed if Im going back to that on my main machine.

The Tb225 looks like a nice bit of kit, and I did look at it when buying a 2.8t. Trouble is it's kind of a halfway house for people who don't know if they want a 1.9t or a 2.8t. More width restrictions than a 1.9t, less power than a 2.8t, but it's main selling point is an extremely good balance of transportability, especially with buckets. As I already have a 2.8t and 1.2t, I'm looking for something firmly in the mini class which is nice and easy to tow and fit through small gateways.

80l in 2 days?! That’a ridiculously frugal, I reckon my 2.5 tonne bobcat gets through 30l a day shifting timber.

I think he said he used the 12" (300) bucket? Agree it looks like total overkill, but in fairness those deep dig utility buckets don't handle tough conditions very well- they are too narrow to lift any rocks out and the deep dig profile looses you more breakout force than a Powertilt mounted under a Q/H!

I'd have used a 9" with teeth looking at that job. Possibly my 6" but on clay I might have spent more time unblocking it. For water pipes, I don't know anyone who does the single joints inside the trench- you just lift the pipe out!

All this goes to reinforce my theory- that the range of attachments you have has as much if not more impact on your bottom line than your choice of digger. Hence why I won't settle for anything less than rollers on the joysticks to control the attachments. :ROFLMAO:

Same. End of the day though our E27s do the work of ten men easily, so f**k the diesel cost!

Does your fuel gauge read full for ages then drop like a stone too?

Yeah, I’m a bit of a nightmare for running vehicles/machines until after the fuel light comes on - there’s usually a decent reserve after that. That little fucker has run out on me a couple of times now though. Definitely needs a complete fill every day!

Must have been in sand or sticking to 8 hrs, but really flogging my 175 fuel use was around 50l a day. 290 is slightly less probs about rorys 40l. Tak 240 will do about 30l a day grafting and a lot more productive than ur 2.5 ton bobcat but as you say with red prices as they are its not breaking the bank. Imho if you're on grab work shifting timber it's not particularly hard work fuel wise it must use some fuel if it was digging hard for a day

I reckon the bobcat and 6 tonne Takeuchi use similar amounts of fuel tbh. Marginally more in the Tak. The odd thing is that even running the mulcher (machines running absolutely flat out) doesn’t seem to alter the fuel use on the Bobcat - it drinks it the same on steadier work (full tank in a day either way). The Tak uses quite a bit more when mulching in fairness - it’ll do 2 days to a fill usually, but every day when mulching.

i use one of these, hand pump works a treat, pump it nearly empty (filling telehandler) in less than 5 mins and its fully compliant with EX regs as its bunded. No more pissing about with cans and funnels.
