Best thing to do with the 8014 was to spill as much diesel as possible on the exhaust to encourage it along

Trouble with that stupid funnel is in the summer the dust settles on them and sticks....leading to fuel issues sooner or later.... Would of been easy to put the cap up put of the bonnet but I guess it would of spoilt the look

8014 and 8018 had a daft rubber 45'pipe.... lived (attached via wire rope) in a clip by the tank in the open air for dust to land..... to use it you undid the cab, inserted the pipe and still spilt diesel f****ng everywhere unless you had a funnel.

Sounds like the 8015 was a better system.

Yeah, the little 8015 system is brilliant, similar to old series Land Rovers. I’m not sure why all small plant isn’t similarly equipped, it makes filling from cans doable.
As a minimum make the filler necks accessible to a funnel!

great filler extension on them ... and a decent size neck too ... another great idea gone by the way side

I've got one of the little 12v pumps that goes into a drum with a bit of hose on it for filling little machines from drums just plugs into the cig lighter and fills nearly as fast as you can pour it in from a drum but you don't get covered in diesel

I’ve got one of those too, and they are great but you still have to store them/handle the diesel coated dip hose etc. A bloke on Arbtalk made a really nice fuel bowser out of the bottom 1/3 of a 50 gallon drum with a recessed well on the top to coil up and store the built in 12v refuelling hose. If I get time I’ll try and find a pic.

I’ve been using a pump that uses 2 d batteries seems to work well enough takes about 3 minutes to fill up gives me time grease up and contemplate the days f**k ups

Not at all. Its a good machine overall and suits what we use them for perfectly. The long arm for us is a bounus 95% of the time. As i said id buy another again. Its easy to make any machine sound crap by listing 1 or 2 faults and every machine has them.

So I finally picked up my new TB219 today.
There was 2 TB216 in the yard so it was good to see the machines next to one another, the 219 is definitely a bigger more chunky machine, all off the rams are bigger, the boom is bigger and the king post is a lot chunkier.

All in all I’m glad that I spent the extra and went for the 219 as I feel I would have always wanted more out of the 216.

You kinda rhymed off more than one or two faults or niggles if you prefer. Enough to make me think there's a better machine out there for you.

Well I got the price back for a canopy TB219 with hitch and three buckers- £19175. Still bloody expensive (only £1200 saving for no cab?),and whats more, it's simply not possible to add proportional controls to the joysticks for the aux as they are lever operated apparently. So it's a total non starter for me.

I did think prop controls would be a no tbh. Too dear at that price anyhow, I'd be expecting cab price to be not much more than that.

Id of gone for cat, as id always had cat minis, but there was 5k difference and i found the last cat to be jerky at best for tracking and not brill on grading.

I was trying to put the faults/niggles as such just not knowing what doobin does exactly with his but in my instance it suits me and our work 95% of the time for that machine, if that makes sense.

Well looks like I'm back to the E19. The short dipper gives almost exactly the same reach as the 'long' dipper on my Hyundai, so I'd be happy with that reach. Long arm E19 is only 400mm short of the reach on my E27!

Interesting to hear about the lack of tracking power. They offer a HD travel motor option, so I've asked what it adds to the drawbar pull and how much.

I think the long reach is the best part of my E19, I do a lot of grading though. Far less repositioning needed. Short dipper probably best if you’re putting that tilt hitch on though.

I love mine, fair bang for buck at 17.5 with canopy and comfort pack (aux on sticks and better seat)
Only criticism other than pushing stuff away and tracking (to be honest neither are that bad) is the small tank. I’m having to fill it again mid afternoon if it’s flat out.

That's sad news to hear, I would have expected around £18500 for the canopy option, shame you don't like the lever operated controls because the machine itself is a fantastic piece of kit!

Can’t understand how they can do the joystick prop control on a 216 but not a 219 but then again I’m not surprised at Takeuchi one offers one thing another dealer offers something else

So I moved around 100 tonnes with the machine today, dug and layed water main then covered with sand and backfilled, was digging through bolder clay no problems, ripping right through it with the 12” bucket on, got a 40 tonne pile to move tomorrow morning, overall really enjoying the machine, very strong hydraulics and think I’m managing to dig and shift about twice the amount I could have in the new Holland E18b
