Tak dealer reckons he gave me a cab price instead- coming back with another price and a price to fit proportional auxs x 2. I'm certainly not averse to trying one if I can find one.

Cat dealer however is £20k for a basic canopy 1.8t machine- looks very nice and I can appreciate the benefits of the electronic programmable joysticks. But too rich for me. Second aux would be easy as roller already on joystick, but 24 week lead time. Bobcat is already 22 weeks for factory build, but thinking I would also spec a short stick- that long stick on an E19 just looks wrong and must be the cause of everyone saying they can't push muck away?

Here's a wildcard- Hyundai have just brought out a CTS version of my ZTZ R-17-9A. WIll try them for a price, but I think the second aux will be the stumbling block.

They are utterly shite at pushing muck away with the long arm and are not great if you loading barrows or dumper in a tight spot. Id go for shorter arm if i was buying again.

Thanks for that. What else about it do you dislike and what do you like?

Surely a short stick on an e19 defeats the object. The 1.9 class are as far as I'm concerned long reach 1.5 tonners. Some may be sticking a little bit more weight on the back and a longer dipper to create this which is why the can end up a bit of a lemon. Tak 219 isn't this its a complete different arm from the kingpost forward. They are not perfect v close in due to bigger arm but you can't have everything. If you didn't want dual prop lines on joysticks i don't think you could go wrong with 219, I'll be interested to see what your dealer comes back with on that one.

Ill start with the crap bits.

It lacks tracking power, it its not poor but you know its not as good as it could be (or as good as other machines ive owned/driven)
Long arm is a pain and, as said, is utterly shite at pushing anything more than a barrow full of muck away from you. It is improved once you get past the dipper been 90deg to the muck but thats never the case when you want to push it away.
She has done nearly 800 hours but ive had to shim lots of the arm, i grease every day if not every half day. I got 2k hours out of my jcb 8010 pins and bushes. Im on 1400hours on the e10 and the dx10 is still too new to comment on that.
Oh and lifting capacity is abit lacking, again id say long arm related. Not stability wise but just physicaly crap.
They have very noisey hyd pumps.

It does however do everything ive thrown at it. Its very stable on batters at full strech with big bucket fulls.
The long reach is great in that youve plenty of reach and dont need to move as often. Always happy with what you can grab from one spot without balancing on the edge of a trench ect.
Its good on derv.
It does dig through hard clay without issue. Its smooth to operate and i can sit on it all day long and not get bored of it.
Overall id buy another as the savings they are well outweigh any other machine. If there was only 1k between them then id look at going back to cat machines. The dealers have been spot on (mine is the doosan version tho)

By the sounds of that not good then. Resale value on a 219 makes it way cheaper to own even if dearer to begin with imho

On another note I picked up a TB016 today  Customer has brought it for his job, then the plan is I will buy it at the end of the job at a discount :giggle: lovely little digger.

I spent a good few hours on an E19 a couple of years ago. Thought it was a good machine, as others have said, the long arm has its advantages and disadvantages. Think I would go for a shorter arm too, it would make it much easier to load dumpers and nicer to grade with. The arm comes in quite fast with the long arm. Was stable enough on its tracks with it though so really depends on your work which arm you choose.
I liked the layout of the controls, all close to hand, decent foot pedals you could actually use - rare on a 1.5t machine and the service access was really well thought out. Something that I think JCB have stolen on their new design of Minis which is a credit to Bobcat for coming up with the idea in the first place.
If they could fix the paint - Id have one. Probably in orange though - I think they look better but that's personal preference.

jammy git there like hens teeth at the minute
I know

Was taxing myself not buying it and trying to justify the unjustifiable with buying another machine this year... then the customer decided with me that it'd be sensible for him to get a decent machine for his 12 month + project..... He had a few JCB 8014's offered to him (late ones with the square boom around 2015 age) for the same money as the 2007 takeuchi  but without a doubt the Taki is the better buy.

I do need to come and get those headstocks though!

Always laugh when they come up with the good service access which you need once in a while yet put the fuel cap in a wank place.

To be honest they are all like that :(

Modern thoughts are you don't fill out of cans :(

Bloody annoying and the angle they are on ur funnel wants to fall out. One thing jcb worked out on the old 801 the tube that pulled out, wasn't perfect but worked well. Anyhow I don't know why it bothers me cos 219 has it where it should be like on ur 016 👍

No, No the JCB 801 funnel idea was a heinous solution to a non existent problem.

I'll beg to differ on that one cos you couldn't get a 5 gallon drum under the bonnet. Only fault was by the time it gurgled to warn you it was nearly full it actually was and you then had a tube full of diesel pished all the spot over.

No rush there still in the shed 🤣 much better machine for the money expanding tracks the lot we looked at going back to one for the time being just to cut our losses, generate some cash by selling the 216 and just creep by then hopefully this year but keep going and move on next year

No your quite wrong.

Best thing to do with the 8014 was to spill as much diesel as possible on the exhaust to encourage it along 😂

Trouble with that stupid funnel is in the summer the dust settles on them and sticks....leading to fuel issues sooner or later.... Would of been easy to put the cap up put of the bonnet but I guess it would of spoilt the look 🙄
