won't the head just unscrew off the spindle Alex??
It's supposed to. However even if I jam a screwdriver in the supplied hole I just bend the screwdriver. It's stuck tight.

Been drawing up a plan for a new gate for mum now though.

Left hand thread on those usually - make sure you aren’t tightening it up more!....

Most HGVs were like that, back in the day. Not sure if any modern ones are now?

Nope

Same with the change to stupid flat washer nuts from conicals.... Never have had a spring conical washer nut come undone.... but the flat twats on the Volvo are a utter pig for it :(

Tried again. Bent another screwdriver. A good one this time. Grr. Up the workshop tomorrow and will make up an adapter to lock off the drive better.

check which way it spins when cutting and you can work out for sure which way is off Alex .. but having dogged it up..it'll take some shifting now

Yeah, it's going to need a special tool and the hole to lock the shaft enlarging. Nothing I shouldn't be able to handle.

Yep. Well I've been trying anti-clockwise so far and clockwise this evening, but couldn't lock it off this evening. I found a t40 torx fitted the spline drive ok so will try that.

Parker branded multi-tool, you know, one of those 4 in one things, except the strimmer & brush cutter share a pole. Should just buy another pole, right angled bit and guard tbh.
