do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
's why Keith was so good at it ... he didn't ... was just an exceptionally gifted driver at picking his routes ....You have to have a screw loose for comp safari. Mental

looks a hell of an over square piston for a VauxhaulNo, can't remember the manufacturer, but think it's a Vauxhall or something, no markings. I occasionally make clocks from them![]()

been looking for info. on Keith, but can't find a lot ... he gets a mention here .. fourth post down http://forum.difflock.com/viewtopic.php?p=275090&sid=fb15f8474e50251e969ee64128e6fd4bgot a mate who built a full size, extra SWB landy with 4 x 4 x 4 for trialing with fiddle brakes, air lockers, the works ... got bored and took up safari-ing ... was UK champ for a couple of seasons and beat the Simonites at their own game ..... Keith was awesome at it ... but you would not want to be beside him ... new internal organs required ... no kids, no mortgage and a large disposable income .... best stonemason in the area
I bought a couple of Tamiya kits for my kids (yeah, right!!!) - they’ve re-released a lot of the models I was desperate for when I was a kid. They are good fun - pretty fast and resilient.@Cyberprog , what brand is the RC vehicle? My son is a little young at the moment, but I’d like get back into the RC cars at some point with him, I know he’s interested. But I want him to build the car from scratch, like I did as a kid. I looked in a model shop a few years ago and all I could see were pre built toys, yes they were nice, yes they were probably far more sophisticated than the RC of my youth, and yes they were expensive! But half the enjoyment for me was building the cars, fixing them when they were broken, buying spares, keeping them going ect. I’ve not done any decent research into this, many people I’ve mentioned this to said the self build thing was not common anymore, but I’ve not had a proper look into it, so I’m glad to see that you can still build your own RC vehicle!

We’ve also got the Lego off-roader in this post which is a nice thing but nowhere near as much fun to play with once built (and your kids need a smartphone to use it which I think is an oversight).
I’ve got a brilliant Lego RC excavator (my wife bought it for me for Xmas a few years ago) - it has its own ‘traditional’ radio control unit which to my mind is a better system as the whole thing becomes stand-alone. I do see the merits of the smartphone app-based controls, but am not sure that kids need smart phones personally.

had a very good look around it whilst he was building it at his house .. some very innovative ideas on the back end ... but he lived and breathed his AWDC
What excavator do you have?
Buy yourself a Bluetooth Gamepad. I have the GameSir 3S. Then download the brickcontroller app. You then build you controls up on the app and the kids can use the model with the bluetooth gamepad via your phone. No need to hand over an expensive fragile bit of kit!
how do the rams work on those ? hyd. or actuators?View attachment 14355Lego Chewie for scale
used to be a really big 'scene' round here in the early 90s, but could never bring myself to abuse Mr Rover's V8s like these blokes used to, so never bothered building anything to play withUsed to do a few trials and d
we used to do a few trials and drive round days but they seemed to fizzle out in favour of the winch challenges etc which never really got into
remember seeing a few big incidents actually. 101 rolled down the steep sections at Weavers Down (I think), people in the back from memory - air ambulance had to be called. Another guy on a site near me rolled a newly finished really smart space framed 90 (think it had been shortened to 80ish) end over end about 4 times and another guy in the mod trials at the same site i I think hit reverse on his single seater special straight back into the reservoir and through the ice. Had to get a diver down there and a load of winches on the recovery. Lucky to get out as quick as he did. He got it back but must of been some rebuild

what makes the air for them ?The new models are linear actuators but some of the old sets are pneumatic
I have a fully functional backhoe all Pneumatic and everything on it works it has four spools across the back for the back actor 1 in the cab for the legs and 2 at the front of the cab for the front loader
what makes the air for them ?
I had a pneumatic tracked excavator one of those as a kid - mega! It had a little sprung pump (similar size to the rams, disguised as the exhaust) to supply the pressure on mine.what makes the air for them ?
