Ah. 50mm pin went for a 50mm hole. I'm not making the pins however they were brought at this length a while ago and have been sitting and waiting...
What thickness steel are your ends?
10mm mine are .... 6 or 8 'd probably do for a 50 pin ..... but the 10 mm will stand a beating better :giggle: ... and slot the bolt hole .. not such a great need for accuracy in alignment then

I made a cardboard template for mine but left the holes solid with just a dot for a centre punch ... scribe around and dot, dot, then blow the large hole from the centre dot mark with a circle cutter, or put a broach through 'em ;)
Thats similar to the line i'm planning to go, cut that out with the plasma, not the best with plasma freehand better with the gas axe still lol

Good idea. I used 6 on that pin but have both 8 and 10 that'll do, think I'll move up to 8 especially for the quickhitch one.
Do you have a throughbolt on the other side of your pins or not?

nah ... the capture plate should keep everything in place ... use nyloc nuts on the fixing or if it's long enough ... a nut either side of
the plate and dog 'em
most of mine are tapped into the att and a loose bolt with a nut locking the bolt to the att's threaded hole

We had one of those in the workshop at school, was so handy just draw something up and make it, no worrying about measuring, scribing out and making clean cuts. Loved it, maybe the guy will let me use it to cut out peices for my thumb when I make it:unsure:

The old man's, really does spoil you. I have seen me working in the workshop on a Saturday when their workshop is locked up and needing a little bracket or something..... and waiting til Monday rather than make it the old school way. Just seems so slow now😖

Ringing around this morning looking for en10 50mm bar. It's like it doesn't exist. En8 or maybe en24. From wherevers open... Any ideas why the guy at Dyfed steels has never heard of it or the local steel supplier never heard of it either.
Also any ideas down Exeter way where might be open/for delivery?

Don't think you will get EN10 there is En8 En 14 and EN24T. For pins I wouldn't use anything less than EN24T if I wasn't using hardened steel.
Apart from dummy pins

Ringing around I found en19t being used what do you make of that?

I'd say it will be good enough for a non frontline machine. You'll find en19 is use to make case hardened pins

How about bosses on buckets and for connecting rams to the body? En24 again?
