Im looking at one for screening topsoil which is often damp had been looking at one of the poly star buckets. I know remu do smaller buckets but they are v expensive so I've ruled those out. It's not to do vast amounts what make is ur star screener bucket?
My star screener is a Gyru. Can't remember what I paid for it, but much, much cheaper than a Remu. I got it through Exac-one (https://www.exac-one.co.uk/gyru-star/) It is good and will screen topsoil well, as long as you are not too fussy. as the stars flex it will suck through slightly larger stones than spec especially if you are trying to get every bit of soil out of the bucket. It is belt drive and I have broken one of the belts when it jammed up. Probably operator error as you have to be very careful to stop scooping as soon as the material gets to the stars otherwise you can't get them started spinning. I would have thought you would need to do a lot of screening to make the numbers add up.

as said ... if it's of possible future interest, doesn't take a minute to stash it ... the trick is a decent filing system to find stuff again :giggle: :giggle:

What size bucket do you have? I know what you're saying about amount it's got to do to pay for itself but it's also about having control of what your producing. Can buy soil in but you can't guarantee what it is. I also want to mix conditioner in it myself. If i can save soil going to the tip as well be a bonus.

Why don’t you hire one to begin with? Maybe try a few different set ups and see which one will work best for you rather than out laying a load of money first?

I know what you mean about having control over what you are doing, often relying on others is where the stress is.
I think I have the second smallest. Run it on my small walkers, so way to small for you, otherwise you could borrow it to try it out.

Tried to get a screening bucket locally for a small job. Can only get it with the machine. Look like I need to get out towable screen back up and running!! Pics to follow later!!

Tend to find with such attachments anywhere that hires them usually has them for 13 ton upwards. But I'll look into it

Any of you know where to buy the different size screens for making a home made screener or trommel? Plan on having a go this summer.

On another note would anyone like this 8'x3' (deck size) shaker before I put it on a frame and add a motor.... £600 the shaft is free and the frame is solid enough.

They are around though, and you might be surprised what dealers will do for you in these times, they usually have a demo unit somewhere floating around..... on a side note due to these times we’re in, did hear the other day that Ridgeway are let machines out on a “hours used” basis to get a bit of movement.

I get my mesh/punch plate from Brimonn (www.brimonn.co.uk). They are very helpful and will roll it for you if you aren't making a flat bed. They don't mind supplying small amounts. I have found some other manufacturers don't want to deal with just enough for one riddle bucket.

That idea might just get borrowed next week!!
If I remember it was all going to get off loaded to the tip🙈, this way they had two useable products🙂, just tied the mesh (used that to give it a bit of strength) to the harris panel with tie wire and away I went...got a few strange looks when I was setting everything up, but when they returned after an hour and saw the start of two sample piles starting to grow......I got the nod of approval and that was me set for another two weeks worth of work🙂
