Got a slate waste path. Its been down 15 years contaminated with soil. This was the best i could come up with. It worked really well

Haven't seen it first hand but can't see it being something you want to use much.
Thing is for a riddle bucket to work effectively it needs more movement than just a vibration. It's why I'm looking at a proper screening bucket. Not something i have loads of use for and maybe an expensive solution but I've got another 25/30 years to put in so it'll pay for itself.

So I reckon that's a 60/40 split of 'yeah they're great if dry' and 'no, they'll f**k the machine'😂

Furniss says 'used sparingly'. This was my thought too. Won't take long to pay for itself sorting concrete from muckway.

Any consensus on which pins are at most at risk of wear?

Probably the worst use for one tbh you end up rattling lumps of conc about in the bucket. To get lumps out of small quantities of topsoil if dry there ok as a cheap solution. Best use i have for mine is sorting walling stone but i don't riddle it. Fill dumper with water and dunk it to wash it. When i bought mine i had it made to fit 4 and 8 tonner and have since changed 8 tonner and need to adapt it to fit. 18 months and i haven't bothered.....

here is my home built effort for separating big stuff from what is washed down a stream from a "slate" hill because it is slate and flat it sits great on a road or even a small pothole as it doesn't roll about. the small weight on the shaft is enough to make it vibrate and "sing" like an electric concrete poker

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
How about making a rotary one out of a cement mixer? No wear on the machine so likely to get more use out of it. I think there was a guy selling them on ebay and there was a thread on the old forum. All I could find was a picture.

Don't think Dick makes them any more. He was the guy I bought my Powertilt from.

There is a firm making vibrate units.... Can't find the details as I'm on the phone but put it this way, I am tempted.

They look the business. Make a really nice flat bed screen for very little money. Not as convenient as a screening bucket to take to site or set up, but will out produce a bucket easily if there is any volume to screen.

If if wont go through the riddle bucket without shaking yourself out of the cab then the material isnt fit to riddle :ROFLMAO:

Now you mention, it I remember seeing it listed .. was a grand IIRC .... pretty sure him and Tim are related ... Tim is a really nice bloke ... helped him out with some spec.s on a crane he had a while ago and he still calls for a chat occasionally ... Tim is jojorae2000 on ebay and gets some pretty way out stuff and usually has pages of stuff ... pretty limited selection today ....

I have one for 8 tonner when stuffs dry it's ok but don't really like using it tbh shakes digger to bits. I'm actually looking to buy a screening bucket to suit 8 tonner if anyone has any experience of one.
I do a lot of screening with rotary screening buckets. I also have a star screen bucket with poly stars. What do you want to know?
For rotary screens, to state the obvious, the bigger the holes and the dryer the material the better they work. You really need roller brushes to keep the screen open, but they tend to wear reasonably quickly. They only work well if most of the material is the undersize. If you are trying to get a small amount of undersize out of a bucket of oversize it is difficult to stop the larger bits blinding the holes and stopping the undersize getting out. Buy as big as you can pick up as you only really want to half fill the bucket otherwise there is little material movement and it takes for ever.
Poly star screens, all of the above, apart from finger cleaners rather than brushes, but they will cope with damper conditions. They separate by size, but if stuff is coated with crap it won't take it off, ie, it won't clean up dirty stone, just separate it. They are faster than rotary, but more expensive and you are stuck with one size screening. Also I have had much more problems with bits breaking on star screens.

Im looking at one for screening topsoil which is often damp had been looking at one of the poly star buckets. I know remu do smaller buckets but they are v expensive so I've ruled those out. It's not to do vast amounts what make is ur star screener bucket?
