Emergency call out at 4am to a job in Liverpool to carry out a repair to enable ship to sail.

what are that particular type of cable called Gus ... used a lot on cranes and damned if i can recall for sure, but seem to recall it being teleflex? bloody expensive, but very smooth and precise

Evening Druid, they are indeed Bowden teleflex push pull cables,

They operated the handle pulling the cables under load, whilst doing this the bulkhead nuts came slack due to the bracket snapping, causing the cables to break, hence to gaiters, we had to repair these and repair the bracket, nobody on UK had any cables of the correct spec and unfortunately it’s not a case to just replace with a like for like when dealing with the likes for DNV GL, they wanted a full MOC (management of change procedure) with a like for like comparison of the cables if we were to replace.
OEM Quoted 14 days for new cables

That is a fair trek at 4am to weld up a bracket. Got to be a couple of hundred mile.

Just thinking exactly the same. Bad enough getting woken up for a call out, but then having a trek like that, to get to the job.

But...that’s the sort of service that you want from someone though when the chips are down, someone who you can rely on and get you out of the s**t.

Hi Gus .. they'm great cables ... HTF you manage to repair 'em ? or were they intact internally? can believe they're not on the shelf .... usually individually made to a specific brief, hence the 14 days

well done on repairing them ... I've had a few apart and they're a real sack of worms ..... like trying to juggle buttered spaghetti

Yea 212mile there, was there for just before 9am. By the time we did the repair and test up and running by 1200.
I don’t think it helped that everywhere was shut locally, they tried a few breakdown companies locally. I’ve done work for them in the past and they paid ok.
I just charged accordingly, travel to and from + mileage and then doing the job, nothing unreasonable. Customer happy he was up and running same day so to me that’s the main thing. Within half an hour of me leaving I had their top management in Amsterdam on the phone thanking me.

I’m only a small business, I try to help out of I can, I always try to go above and beyond for my customers thus they keep coming back.

Internally perfect, just the damage at the crimp where it comes to the external tube. Was a bit of a nightmare but trial and error and we got it working.

you would struggle to find a swivel on most chains now druid only really see them on single leg drop chains or hook assembly's. 99% of two and four leg sets I see now are just master link couplers grab hooks (shorteners) and then the bottom hooks and attached to the quick hitch by a shackle like in the picture.
