What on earth they were thinking is beyond me.
Just been in VW van centre. Asked him how new transporters are selling...pulled a wry face and said everyone wants the old ones 🫣
I couldn’t believe they got into bed with Ford for a new transporter given all the issues with the Ford . The used transporters with low miles will be at premium now

We used to buy all fords, the last 4 have been anything but ford, it's not just the wet belt either the whole engine is weak
Just had transporter 26 plate for a few days as loan van. Drove ok but felt crap compared to old one. So tinny. Rear door felt like it was made of bean cans. Absolute cockup from VW imo.
Why on earth would you sack off thousands of loyal customers to a Hodge podge transit copy.

Division of Labor: Under the agreement, Ford develops medium vans and pickups (like the Transit Custom, the Ford-built VW Transporter, the Ford Ranger, and the Ranger-based VW Amarok), while Volkswagen develops smaller city vans like the VW Caddy, which is also rebadged as the Ford Transit Connect.

Also ford are dumping the wet belt going to chain in 2027

Yeah I remember that being the deal.
They all collaborate these days due to the huge cost of development i guess
