My mate’s transit custom blew its turbo at approx 100k miles - apparently it’s really common on them.
They are total dogshit - I’d never buy anything made by Ford nowadays, basically disposable crap.

My 2.2 blew turbo at 167000 and sucked it through the engine. Plenty of good fords on the road..

Problem is its a fantastic van. Super comfy, all the toys you need, loads of room, tows 2.7 ton, decent economy and fast enough to rack up plenty of points if you're careless
Just seems to have a timebomb under the bonnet

always amazes me how discs can get into such a state with little 'track' coverage and the rest like a badger's bum full width pads - you'd think they'd retain full width clamping
see you're doing all 4 corners - hateful job on a landy and in this heat - like the fan

Reminds me I need to look at the amarok. Coming over the pass last night it wasn't happy in the rear. Only done 40k eats pads...and from the sound discs as well.

Got an advisory that the rear discs were generally a bit scabby on the mot.
As always I left it a month or so too long Weekends was taking the piss a bit really tbh but I'm glad I went.
Just doing the pads on the front today if the discs are OK
Got to go to Cheshire tomorrow for a couple of days so it's now or never.

Front just got pads, didn't really need them to be honest but by the time I'd pulled a wheel off to check it didn't seem worth leaving.
All the calipers moved nicely and evenly, only bit that concerns me is the back left stub axle mounting plate has a couple of warps, never seen that before! Not on an oil seal fortunately, but I'll change it shortly while it's fresh in my mind.
Must be 6 years since I has a hub off a defender, good to see that I remembered it once I got going, I've learned a couple of new tricks and gained some very useful tools since the last time. The big 1/2 inch milwaukee makes light work of the wheel and hub nuts, the big torque wrench helps you do the job right and the snapped of pick makes a fantastic podger pryer poker

my sisters conceded defeat and scrapped hers - 2015 i think - endless stuff wrong it !

I have just put a new gearbox in a 12 plate and re engine a 13 plate. Better in some ways than the new stuff.
