I know they are about as 3.5t but wasn't sure if they had been downgraded from 5.5t. if that is the case then they wont carry a lot.
For the cost of some of these things now you could have a nice galvanised chassis defender for the odd off road job
There was one for sale a while back that had been downrated, you could barely sit in it and be legal so no idea how they managed to downplate unless they had stripped it back to chassis. Sometimes I think of getting shot of the ranger and then having a either a proper van or tipper and a decent 4x4 for towing but it's another set of insurance and costs and no where to put it

I broke a front spring on mine last year. Apparently quite common - as it is on all modern cars.... Metal isn't what it used to be. Replaced it with genuine as it was available and I had an MOT coming up. The rears are too soft with anything in the back, but the 19 plate upwards have a slightly taller and heavier duty spring which does help a bit. I keep meaning to upgrade mine sometime but to be honest the truck will be worthless in 18 months time when the tax man decides its a car so will have to get something else anyway.
Its lasted this long, probably keep going for another few months yet.
Only silver lining is there's going to be some very very cheap pickups about in a couple of years time 🙃🙃 already seeing new rangers sub 300pm now on ch

Had another good look at grenadier today . Proper working one a customers got sign written etc. so much to like about them...except perhaps mpg ..

Commercial or normal? Dmax and ranger now available as a double cab with storage instead of seats so I assume aia claimable but useless if you need to take more than one passenger. Lately been mostly me in the pickup but has been a few times with 2 or 3 in.
I doubt the second hand market will crash for them though

do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
Excellent, I could do with another trip to BikePark Wales. I had it ceramic coated last year and it does scrub up well, which I've just done today as its Chelsea starting tomorrow and we cant be seen in a dirty truck for that! I still love that truck, maybe not as much as my previous D40, but it is a lovely thing to drive and I have no idea what to replace it with if I'm honest.
well you know how to find me now Ollie :giggle:;)

Has anyone done an auto gearbox oil change on their D23?
IMG_5586.jpeg

My '68 plate' has now clocked up 42k and maybe it's time to do it ;)

And I know there's loads of rednecks doing their thing on YouTube but I want to know your experiences.
I am thinking a simple oil change. Filter is just a simple mesh thing. So is it worth cleaning that out or maybe do it next time. And I do realise that a simple 'oil change' is not the same as a flush. Some will remain in the torque converter.
What da ya think guys 😎

I had Nissan do mine. They just did a change not a flush nor the sump off/filter change. According to Nissan it's not a servicable part but I see many do take the sump off. To clean the filters. They always look pretty clean in the videos anyway so unless it's on mega mileage I'm not sure there's much benefit to it

Thanks for your quick reply. Yep this is exactly what I am planning to do before we drag the caravan up to Bonnie Scotland.
Have ordered 6 litres of Febi ATF with the Nissan spec form Opie Oils.
Interesting way to get it refilled. Exactly what I did with our C320 Mercedes. Good job that I have an inspection pit :giggle:

My mate Simon has an old Nissan X-Trail, auto, which has had a strange rumble/shudder for a while, we've been trying to source for some time - felt for all the world like drive shafts/CVs, but all checked out fine

He resorted to banging all the symptoms into one of these AI jobbies (two actually) - both diagnosed it as in need of an oil change in the box (but disagreed on whether the filter was replaceable/washable - was going to set them against each other and see who won :ROFLMAO:) .. diagnosis was very comprehensive TBF
Seeeeriously expensive oil bought from Nissan (could not find a guaranteed equivalent) and a trusted guy did the work for him (neither of us CBA to grovel about under it - ramp required) and totally cured the issues :oops: - now driving sweet as a nut

Agree that a simple oil change can fix shudder Gra (y)
It's all over the Disco3 forums with such Witchcraft as flossing while engine running and adding Dr. Tranny etc.
How do I know this - 'cos I had a very nice Disco 3 HSE auto and did all the prevention stuff to prevent it from occurring

That said, I was lucky 'cos it's usually caused by the torque converter starting to fail.
I certainly believe in 'prevention is better than cure' ;)

that oil looks pristine, compared to what came out of Simon's - apparently .. black and smelly ..... and he's a pretty 'sympathetic' driver - not a lead welly merchant - has had the Nissan many years
