What's the e27 like without the extra counterweight? I was half thinking of leaving that off and putting steel tracks on.

Ah. I recognise that post knocker. Were you on arbtalk asking about it when you were building it? What size hammer weight does it have?

I bought the bateson trailer because it was marketed as light, I think it was something like 580kg. I added a strip of ply to the centre of the trailer and with a spare wheel it was mid to high 600's but can't remember. Split ramps have meant I can't move a roller which is really annoying, otherwise they're great

Yeah they're all much of a muchness by the time all the bits have been added to make like easier. Tbh I like a stripped down flatbed as much as anything because theyre pretty light, flexible with different machines. a bateson 12x6 is 600kg without ramps so perhaps 650 with and gives a bit more room for either attachments or load positioning them a standard plant trailer- the down side is its more of a faff dealing with ramps and props stands

It's the shorter skids that get the most payload but it's not a huge difference over the longer skids. There's something like 4 different rear options on the gh1054. Would have thought you could still get a roller on with skids they do have sideways adjustment it's just the retaining bolt that holds them in place when driving is crap

Yeah that was me. The lump was 160kg and then by the time I welded on brackets etc for it to slide I think its probably about 170-175kg. I tried to keep the rest of it light but thinking about it it's probably a bit more than 250kg in total.

Hadn't ever really considered a flat bed but it makes sense. Yeah the prop stands are a pain.

The bateson has a steel backing for the number plate, between the skids, that sits about an inch higher than the bed of the trailer
