forgot to add that - they were of the opinion that with the 6a.m. 'chuck up', he'd been vomiting so violently, he may have ruptured a small blood vessel somewhere ...
was the last time he threw up, so not seen it since ..
he'd been throwing up every 4 hrs or so, since about 6pm, the evening before and had now't left to bring back -
(much like Pancreatitis, but that's virtually constant, so didn't think it was anything like that - and I've never gotten to the 'bloody' stage - feel like your heart is next sometimes though!!:ROFLMAO:)!!!!
anyway .. he's eaten pretty well today - a little and often though, rather than his usual 'eat for Wales', self ... but anything is fine and probably better in 'byte' size goes :giggle:

right gentlemen -- get the collective grey matter engaged and tell me what this is worth
Know the owner well and he's fussy/fastidious about caring for his vehicles - ex neighbour - nice guy
got it sat on the side of the main A465 where the locals sell quite a few vehicles from (but not very well positioned)
was lashing down this morning when I stopped for a shufty .. if it's dry later, when I pick Clara back up I'll have a better look

Wouldn’t personally say he’s that fussy with maintenance considering the MOT advisories it’s had for the past few years. It’s going to want some anti roll bar links, bushes and maybe tyres unless they have been done since the test last month!
so ..... transpires this is not the owner's truck I thought it was - hence the surprise at the MOT advisories ... Franky'd never take his truck for MOT with a load of rattley bits :giggle: .. he does however have exacty the same truck
this un belongs to a local fencing contractor - hence the tyres and the advisory essay ... not gonna be gracing our drive this side of eternity :ROFLMAO: ... he's one rough arse bugger - can't believe the interior (or exterior) looks as good as it does :unsure:
must've been some valet job

Aye had pretty much the same down at mine too, was quite the surprise when I walked out the door this morning all gone now pretty much
you're lucky Alex .. had to go clear some foot routes round the house, save dragging it into the house and give the cats an exit route ... they're as keen on it as I am -- peering at it through the cat flap thinking **** that !!!:LOL:

finally had a dry enough day/couple of hours, to get these out of me 10x5 trailer and time to myself to do it
was gonna weigh them, but CBA to get the dynamometer out and set up ... will do it another day ... when the sun is out :giggle:
air temp is 14C ... shame the bloody wind wasn't on the same page
glad I threaded the slings in the day I collected them ... would've been fun in the trailer, trying :(
bag lifter makes life so much easier for cradling lifts :giggle:(y)

for got to say .... anyone know of any outfits that can re-con gas struts ??:unsure:

got two on the engine cover of the 'Drema, one of which has been been pretty poor for some time .... t'other appears to have given up the ghost :(
damned near put my shoulder out, when I went to lift the cover to put the battery isolator on and it barely budged ... 's a 'kin heavy lump (2.5/3mm) - had to get Pam to stick a block in the gap, when I managed to get it up about 6"
have tried on several occasions to find some replacements, with zero results found - they're odd dimensions and quite some lift force
got some pix somewhere

Try SGS for the gas struts

couldn't determine the lift power needed
You'll have the same problem getting your struts regassed and not knowing what pressure to put in them.
Very roughly, the force range from the strut can be guessed from the diameter. Sure, there is a 4:1 variation for a given size, but it puts you in the ball park

Amusingly, the struts from a 3cx rear window are a match (P8, P12 at least)
This is rated 460 N which is the equivalent of 46kg, so a pair will hold 92kg (at the mounting point).

Don't get too hung up on the "correct" force for the struts - even struts at half their design pressure (lifting force) are a lot better than nothing.

I'm never sure which is the better path: regas old worn struts or replace with new (cheap?) units acknowledging the quality/life may not be up to OEM standard.

too small sadly @Gecko
Overall length 430 mm (16.93 in) -- 655 needed
- Stroke 385 mm (15.16 in)
- Compressed length 190 mm (7.48 in) -- 400 needed ctr - ctr
- 460 N force rating

pretty sure that's a black cab door closer

Ooops sorry. Went off the compressed length, not extended.

I put a pair of those into my P8 - the old ones had a dry rattle to them.

My door openers are about half that size.

Second attempt

had a play with some numbers and its the 2500N class struts that come with a 14mm rod and the threads on the balls are M10

that looks pretty damned close but think this is a closer bet ...... the closed length is more critical and can always extend the base by 30mm with a suitably machined extension ... if it's too long, closed, the bonnet won't close and I have all the end fittings off the old ones .....
it's virtually upright, under the top mounting when closed - (I'll get some pix)
thanks for your trouble ...

will have to get some ordered - 'cos I can't open the engine cover on my own ATM and it's gonna need lil' jake's assistance to get it fully open to work on it .... it's a hell of a weight so'll go for 500N.... 1Kn = 103Kg, so two'd give me that level of lift and that cover has got to be all of that -- but it's also working on a very short linkage ratio, so real hard to guess :(
pretty sure the original dead one is still on me bench, so'll give the label a going over with a Loupe and see if I can't get any info off it (or take the second one off and see what the label's like on that one):unsure:

IIRC you have a digital load cell?
If you lift the cover (using "lil' jake"), take a reading and measure /multiply the lifting point ratio, you should be able to get within +-5% without trying too hard.
