Shall also be modifying the plumbing to the tails, when I replace them, to bring them into an accessible location, to be able to turn the damned things off (especially when not in use).
I replaced mine with Quarter-turn ball valves
Quick to turn off, obvious when you forget to turn them back on.

There lots of things i wish i was good ,but one thing i cann do is sharpen stuff, drillbits by eye, knives ,chisels, saw blades etc my old man taught me
It's one thing I've never needed to do. My grandad wouldn't be impressed, he was a driller for some of his career, however I never got to meet him.

But I've loads of drill bits that I need to sharpen so a bit sharpener would be ideal for me.

You do what ever is necessary to get it done,i have all sorts of things to help set the angles and cutting roofs etc i have to test fit stuff ,where as a mate can take a couple of measurements and cut a whole roof on the floor ,and it always fits

they are mini 1/4 turns .... just can't reach the ****ing things down behind the machine ... need bringing up to a visible, reachable level

nothing more frustrating than a blunt drill, or any other 'edge' tool for that matter

and in case anyone's wondering about the gert hole in me drive and 'progress'
I've 'progressed' as far as I'm going to, 'til the 'kin weather dries up some and I'm not fighting the bloody ground water again ... had dried out nicely, in that dry week we had before the bloody snow ... since then :cry:
sod battling it .. our water supply is fully functional again for now - the hole and all its bloody contents can wait to get sorted

forget the Drilldoctor - utter tish .... :(
as I had always suspected

the Vevor passed with flying colours for Wes (y) (who IMHDO is a very capable fella)
these look virtually identical to the Vevor offering, apart from a few cosmetic differences and are significantly cheaper - basically half the price AND go to 15mm ... I might be tempted TBH - anything under 6mm is a PITA to retouch - do-able, but carefully/slowly --
one of these'd make it a POP
certainly wouldn't bother with the 20mm model ... (again half of Vevor's Amazon UK price) as I'm perfectly happy sharpening by hand/eye - have had nigh on 60 yrs of practise
interestingly Vevor do not even list these on their UK website

been shopping :giggle:
WP_20260128_12_41_42_Pro.jpg

well worth the 100 mile round trip (y)
Spencer, the seller messaged me first thing .. don't rush .. driver not turned in and had to go to Swindon . . be back 12.30/1-ish
saved me racing about first thing
Warmley, outskirts of Bristol ... did my second year teaching practise at the Grange school for boys there ...
Jeeeeeeezus ain't it changed, but 1977 was the last time I was there :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
arrived about half twelve and rang him to say I'd 'landed' ...
was still 45 min.s away ...
" feel free to chuck 'em on - there's pallets there to slip 'em on to in your trailer .. I'll ring the landlord and see if he can come and fork them on for you -- see you later "
Gave me time to get meself set up with some rat-shits through the pallet and 'band them' with, some slings through the pallet to 'Drema 'em off with and some bigger rat-shits to secure them in the trailer with ....
I'd still hand balled 16 on though, 'fore the landlord'd finished what he was doing with his tele handler and arrived to give me a lift ...
picked the last ten along side the trailer and slid 'em onto the stack, with their pallet stuck on top ...
was just dogging it all down when Spencer arrived - lovely guy - pleasure to meet.
bit of a yap, squared him up and I was away

Bloody sat nav had brought me in via Siston village - tight and steep - ferk going back that way, so punched Chepstow into it and set off in the opposite direction i'd arrived from .. it soon got its head together and knocked it off once it'd gotten me to the M32
ring road is bloody miles round ... could've gone straight there from Fishponds, if I'd gone down the 32 ... went there 5 days a week for a term in '77  .. hey ho !!

had intended to take Pam with me this morning, but one of her mates had rung and asked her to go share some 'retail therapy', so picked her up in the village as I came through and home by half three
WP_20260128_16_15_41_Pro.jpg

mats were just over a tonne - plus all their attached crud .. knew they were there
got stuck behind a learner going - with a van who obviously didn't know the road behind her - it could've passed in loads of places, but no way could I clear the both of 'em, with a trailer on :( - cost me 15 mins ... damn me if I didn't get the same issue coming back, particularly as I really didn't need a 'crawler' in some places  ... left Spencer's place at five to two  considered the long way round, but plumped for my usual cross country route, which I can usually 'fly' (without hinderances)

got all the ties, etc. off, 'fore the light went and went an' had a cuppa
WP_20260128_16_16_06_Pro.jpg

nice little pile, which is gonna have a wait in the trailer a day or two .... Harper all day tomorrow and I have to get Vicki's Skoda MOT-ed at 11.00
WP_20260128_16_33_26_Pro.jpg

job for the weekend, but at least I have two slings in place ready for the 'Drema to do her stuff :giggle:

Think they’re the same as what I’ve got, euromat. Decent price?
will have a look - 80 quid a pop - I have a need later in the year and then maybe move them on - won't eat or drink at that and first local-ish ones I've actually managed to secure ... usually gone in a blink
bloody heavy

right gentlemen -- get the collective grey matter engaged and tell me what this is worth
Know the owner well and he's fussy/fastidious about caring for his vehicles - ex neighbour - nice guy
got it sat on the side of the main A465 where the locals sell quite a few vehicles from (but not very well positioned)
was lashing down this morning when I stopped for a shufty .. if it's dry later, when I pick Clara back up I'll have a better look

Wouldn’t personally say he’s that fussy with maintenance considering the MOT advisories it’s had for the past few years. It’s going to want some anti roll bar links, bushes and maybe tyres unless they have been done since the test last month!
