Plan to try and keep this one looking good and sound generally, don't ever want to have to 'upgrade' to a newer one with a load of unnecessary electrics and a big price tag

The guy I got this off had the jcb equivalent of this one, but a 2020 model. Mechanically it was fine, but the safety cut outs/beepers/horn going off was ridiculous Bet it was near 20k too
He actually offered it to me instead of the thwaites, for not a huge amount more. No thanks

TB testing today- all 2 cows . Pigs had their first day outside
Vet was several hours late so I've been tinkering all day- put the fan belt back on the d4 (fell off when I hit a puddle the other day!), found a split pipe, replaced that.
Did a bit more painting of bits off the dumper, pulled the floor pan off, lovely and clean underneath so stuck that back on with some new bolts, pulled the back grill off, beat it a bit straighter and rubbed it down ready for a quick bit of paint.
Popped the roof tent up and stuck the fan inside it for a bit of an airing, great weather for it for February
Vet turned up about 3.30, first use of the new crush, way better than the old one, took a whole 5 minutes

According to Facebook it was 9 years ago i picked up this ebay bargain
Bench was something like 11ft long, won it for about 21 quid, including the vice Think the size of it put people off, hard to collect, heavy to handle etc. I just pulled alongside it and rolled it on, then cut it in half on the trailer.
Had them both in various places but after a few years they became glorified shelves. Moved the one with the vice outside and its had way more use. Sold the other one for 30 quid

Decided to have a bit of a change round in this corner of the shed. Basically halving the space taken up by the owners sons utter junk- the old chairs and bits of furniture etc Been in there 15+ years, it's never going to have anything done with it but obviously it's not mine to throw away
Now it's moved I can concrete another couple of meters and push a couple of things further out, giving me far more usable space than I'm actually concreting
Between that, and emptying the blue wheeled rack thing of wood as it was taking up far more space than it deserved, so I've pulled it out to get rid, I've made an absolute massive mess! Be worth it when it's done though
Got my second metal rack up outside as well.

Had my eye on this for months- 6kva perkins engined genny. Came with an enclosure that I'm pretty sure would have been made by the guy I put enclosures in for, but at least 30 years ago so a bit before my time!
Been up for a while at a grand, dropped to 600 this week so I offered him 4, we met in the middle
Bit smaller than I want but I can't justify thousands just so I don't have to run an extension lead over the road every so often
Only 40 minutes away, took a winch and chains but had it on a couple of dollies and we pushed it straight up.
Got it home and had it running out of a can in about 20 minutes. Came with an oil filter so we did an oil change. There's no hours meter on it but if it's done more than 100 I'd be amazed Old filter was like new and a genuine perkins. Air and fuel filters were spotless.
Seems to be all working, makes power, gauges work, glow plugs work, warning light works, charge alternator works.
Wrapped up the leads and fuel lines and started modifying the canopy. Originally fitted in a corner so it's just 2 sides and a roof, I rummaged through the scrap pile and found a couple of suitable panels
Did 90% of the end panel, but ran out of cutting discs, and it was getting a bit late on a Sunday so called it a day

Got lucky here- forklift crept down, leaving the 'fuel tank' floating! Lucky the quick grip was on well otherwise there'd have been 5 litres all over the floor

Bit of progress on the canopy today. Side panel virtually done, just needs a couple of plates and double up on some rivets
Generator working well, staring first turn despite the heath Robinson fuel supply.
The last of my stock of RSJs is the perfect length to make a base frame but it's a bit overkill, might see if my mate has something a bit smaller he'll swap for it- he's collecting bits to build a mezzanine.

Forklift makes a great mobile work bench, but sometimes a pallet isn't big enough- like working on this ride on, became properly wedged. Knocked this up from bits lying around, works nicely. Needs a coat of paint but no time as I needed to work on the mower
One made out of steel with ramp ends would be lovely, but I haven't got any channel/box laying around unfortunately. Would also take more than half an hour

Plodding on with the generator enclosure.
Chopped out some rust and plated over holes in the outlet attenuator, skinned over the bottom with a folded tray from the scrap pile- was just the right width, give or take a mil
Ran out of light, I need a source of electricity I reckon

Needs a coat of paint really, just to make it all one colour but I'm not sure it'll stick very well to the powder coat without a fair bit of rubbing down.

Weirdly I've been really enjoying fiddling about with this, a bit like how I enjoy digger work in the field

There’s a bloke in Wales with loads of paint for that sort of job (as long as you like brown!)

Generator in the canopy and screwed down, exhaust pipe riveted back in place so I must got the big hole in the end right
Just need to decide how to mount the fuel tank and battery now, run the cable through a gland, mastic it up and give it a coat of paint, then it can go outside in position
