I`ve just edited the post, a typo, should of read 12 speed rather than 6 in the smaller box.
I far as I know most of the auto boxes are constant mech, rather than a synchro box as the manuals, the computer doesn't miss a gear, and speed and rev match better than a driver they say :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:....mean while back in the real world......

Think it depends on the lorries. M.A.N are horrendous boxes verging on the point of dangerous. Volvo I-shift are absolutely brilliant even the FM models seem unbelievably nice places to be. I honestly think that a Volvo lorry is as smooth to drive as a range rover. I have only driven tippers and plant lorries so god knows what the big Globetrotters must be like comfort wise.

MAN use the ZF box, the same as DAF and Iveco, and properly others, but they all use there own software, which seems to make a big difference, IMO the iveco was set up slightly better than others.
Volvo ishift is generally concidered the benchmark of truck automated boxes, the latest dual clutch version is supposed to be the mutts.

The only iveco auto I have driven was a knackered old facelift mewp. With the three buttons on the dash for gear selector.
Scania is a bit agricultural still but better than daf or M.A.N. the newest Volvo I have driven was 2019 and still very impressive.
I can't understand the American obsession with manual for long distance work.

Is the gear lever stiff ?? Sometimes this is worn bushes or stretched Bowden cables rather than a gearbox issue. Old fh Volvo's where terrible to drive until the Bowden cables where replaced.

Just had a look and the portal has been updated and doesn't seem to have as much info as before, but some of what I can see is,
Week 17 2022
Its an FA build so factory built rigid
Auto gearbox
8000kg front axle
Draw bar spec
Air suspension front and back
Thanks Craig, much appreciated.I am hoping this local truck will pan out, if not I will be having a proper look at this if still there.

No problem, I know when I looked at mine one day, and it was showing all the options, engine/gearbox/axle numbers, but this updated one only seems to show the basics.

The front air suspension on that one could be handy.

You don’t see front air suspension on many lorry’s
The only ones I’ve seen it on is the 6x2 daf XF rigid Dutch flower lorry’s & daf CF’s that’s had de mount body’s on with center axle drawbar trailers with de mount body on aswell.

The full air suspension is used to swap body’s on jack legs

So is air front suspension a good thing on a small rigid then?Like I said this is a bit of a learning curve at the minute( good though,I’m only dealing with the actual lorry ,my sister who does all the admin is taking the cpc exam at the beginning of Feb.)

I think @1RB is on the money with demounts, guessing that's was their first life.

I would love to have air suspension on the front, the ability to lift the front up for more ground clearance in some of the places we end in, or to adjust went loading in less than ideal positions would be handy.

my little Iveco 7.5's ground clearance was dire--- closest thing to the ground was the radiator  like 5-6" - had to be soooo careful where you took it.:(

Brilliant, that’s the one, sort of makes the price with new body pretty good.
That'll make a nice wagon... Drawbar spec would be my choice if building from scratch as the extra cogs and slightly more go will be far better than the bog standard.

Just be aware slightly odd specs can make for parts headaches down the line if you intend to keep it for years.

If anyone is thinking about a grab lorry, this a fairly impressive.
Fair size crane on there. Far bigger lift than a normal epsilon.

Very nice.

I've deliberated buying a 6w a few times...I've just been spoiled by my 4w carrying 10t.
My mates just bought an man 6w and only carries 11.5t.
The very first grab I ever drove was a 56 plate daf 6w and that was a 12.5t pay load.

Don't get me wrong, you can easily put more on.
