How deep are those steels going in? When I was working on a Barrets site about 25 years ago we were building all the retaining walls out of timber posts like that. Stupid idea in hindsight.
Yeah it’s mental but it keeps me in work. Gone a metre down into the existing footings. Add a ground anchor at the top and she’ll be grand. Was prepared for up to 2m into the sandstone but that would have been total overkill. It’s just sand, it barely even needs retaining.

Daft thing is when the freeholder of flats etc asks if a kingpin wall is engineer specified the answer is no- timber lifespan not quantifiable. But they want a cheaper job and as I always say- how the fk was it ok to pull a trench, fill it with ready mix and then stick timber posts into it when the place was built?

Chuck a 9” perf pipe in the corner where your pump is.. can just drop a pump in. backfill the whole thing with dry mix! And fill the thing with water! (Without teaching you to suck eggs!!)
We need to take the water away as it will end up washing the corner of the tank away. The pump has been running 24hrs a day since Tuesday so will put a chamber in otherwise we will end up constantly burning pumps out along with the electric cost

Had a few days off work to get this down and foundations sorted for its replacement. The tippers paying for itself as I’ve got a place 10mins away to dispose of rubble 👌🏻 (yes it was covered before I took the pic)
