do it as well as you can,but learn to do it better
I think that's just the general case for wheeled machines in particular, especially anything modern.

That's a fair machine, I'd prefer a Steelwrist on it though ;) I put 4 15's into Flannery last year and as far as I heard they were getting on really well with them, although they had bought them specifically for lifting on HS2.

There was a really nice 714 for sale recently from the Netherlands, 710mm Nokian tyres etc, I think it sold for about £34k which would have been a bargain as it was one of the last built and had a lovely spec, albeit no tilty.
'bout the same time as that one above came up there was also one with excavator set up too - IIRC was circa £35k - again didn't sit long -- been trying to find some pix of it, but no success yet and CEF's inaccessible these days :cry:

This was the one in the Netherlands earlier this year, a bit of a beast and very tidy!

I find the whole duck situation a bit frustrating. Because I love the machine for working- it's quick getting round on a displaced site, nipping up to the top of a field to load up a load of stone etc, the tyres in many ways lend themelves better to working on rough stoney ground then a tracked machine, all in all aside from bogey ground there isnt much than I miss about being on tracks when I do use the duck. I love the fact there's no messing with trailers hitching unloading just rock up and your ready to go. The only thing I can't stomach on my duck is the road speed, it really does make it a non starter for so many jobs where I need it just for a days work which is really where it's main benefit would lie. I think basically mine is just too antiquated for roading jobs, it all seems to get a bit hot and bothered by being on the road more than half an hour.

Just get up earlier

Slightly off on a tangent but is the traditional mecalac duck /loader thingy mechanical gearbox. The are rated to 25mph.

No, I believe they were all still hydrostatic, and unfortunately they are either 25kph for the older ones and 32kph for the newer ones. They have 'just' launched a new one the 12MRX which has a 40kph box but no idea what its like in the real world.

Had a play on the Chinese Duck today.
Weird experience. 5 speed gear box with clutch brake and throttle. Manual drive to wheel, probably got a fair turn of speed if you were brave enough to road it .
Joystick buttons are on/off not proportional so you have to be quick with the thumbs .

Looks like a very low seat! That's not a rotating grab is it?

What man as done, man can do, what never has, maybe
Used to have a poclain 60 that had 4 speed manual box and clutch💪

engine gearbox then a 90 degree box to send the drive through the centre of the slew down the the under carriage

was a bugger if you got it stuck trying to operate the upper structure while feathering the clutch🤪

That was going to be my next question. I think you better get him to come and look at my duck. 2x independent and proportional joysticks for grab and rotate👍😁 and a hydraulic Geith hitch.
I told him about it . Floats in a waste handling yard may be sub optimal.
IMHO needs a TAB boom with gripper /engcon and shears / grab and about 13t with high lift cab to be perfect machine for sorting waste

Whys that because of punctures?
Yes .. duals on hard ground have redundancy I guess … where as floats are a liability? (Im an environment where there are permanently LOTS of sharp things)

I’d love it for the farm but you won’t swap for my screener 😂😂😂

And I need to clad my workshop…..

I'm sure eventually we could get enough together to play swapsies. Your Wacker plate, Milwaukee stapler etc!
Soil screeners on Dartmoor- not sure about that!
