That is the principle I have applied to the Frame and Roof, which has blown £55K of my original £50K budget.....leading me to having to make decisions and compromises to get it weatherproof (by end of 2026)
I think that door will be too small in reality, and you will quickly regret it. Sorry…

My landlord where I’ve got my unit had a big agri shed build a few years ago. He made some big sliding doors on tracks and had them galvanised then clad the same as the shed. His reasoning is he could go in and out without having to open a full roller shutter every time and less chance of wind issues. Best picture I’ve got sadly.

As part of this project, I shall need a door for the 'big' end of the machinery store/workshop. Currently frame has an opening of 15' x 15' approx. I have had quotes for insulated sectional overhead doors which seem like best options compared to traditional steel roller doors (I have plenty of them at work HQ) or Sliding doors. Cheapest quote for 15' x 14' insulated door with 3ph motor and manual chain was £3100+vat inc fitting. This one is for sale locally and includes the support posts / framework and is £400. I am very tempted to go for it, just trying to decide if I will get angry with a 10ft wide x 11ft high opening. Guess I can open up for a wider one if the future ever calls for it? I have fitted a couple roller doors for myself before - so dont imagine this can be much worse.

you'll also have it 11ft above you head as you enter with it open :(
could you put that to one side of the planned opening for now and have a full size in centre as you'd like when funds allow ?

I like the fact with a motorised roller door you hit the open button and bytime your back in the vehicle/digger the door is open! Not messing around with a contraption!

We will have a Ped door beside main entrance. Have toyed with sliding, but the whole door going up and over on a button makes life easier. Especially if on a remote.

I have a 225mm twinwall on the site I first fixed in under the lane 2 years ago, need to join onto it and fit a chamber so I can tap in some later surface drainage and treatment plant outflow. Was going to put in some 900mm concrete rings, but these plastic units have popped up fairly local on MP and I can have the pair of for £300 notes. Seller has measured for me with shite photos and the inlet /outlet OD measurement is showing as 235mm which doesnt make sense to me as 9" twinwall is 225mm internal. Either that or seller cant use a steel rule.

Slight differences in diameters between types and brands probably, but you'll be able to butt them up and joint with a rubber adapter/flexseal.

Doh. You’d have thought a plumber might have thought of that! I was assuming they would be sockets not spigots

land drainage is never particularly water tight anyway, is it .. just a duct/channel to direct ground water in the genera direction you want it to go
Around here.. the more gaps you have the more water it lets in. Despite the current drought we still have random spots in the water table that are above surface level 🤣
I have 22 post holes in the shed (not got round to grouting the feet in yet) and some are dry and some are flooding out. The difference in ground conditions every 15ft is remarkable

The 225mm twin wall I've just been messing about with the 45deg needs were a shapfered fit so wider to start with. Makes sense easier to engage but pulls tight-ish when it buts up inside.

Picked up the Twinwall sumps yesterday. Borrowed neighbours Kubota and spent a couple hours finding the 9” twinwall that we first fixed a couple summers ago.
Had planned on moving some gear around but Moffett wouldn’t start . First time it’s ever let me down. Bled fuel through and noticed it’s full of water. I emptied and washed and dried the tank out about 200 hours ago plus washed lines out and replaced filter. so Christ knows where it comes from as I try to keep tank full and am pretty hygenic with fuel.
It’s been outside a lot so maybe rainwater getting in somehow?
Another job to add to the growing list.
Currently feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer list of stuff that needs doing and the lack of time to do it.

getting in through the gauge face - try a pineapple rings tin over it (bigger dia than a bean tin) .. or something similarly waterproof - that's a lot of water

Back on it for another afternoon. Tried the sump for size .. fits a treat but odd size spigot about 15mm less than the 265mm OD of the twinwall . Can’t get a rubber adaptor locally so will try a 9” coupler tomorrow with some slits in it and a big jubilee clip.
Need to pull some more material away from the sides before I venture down there with my shovel. It’s about 7ft down. Shame as it’s going to rain tomorrow.

Got the Moffet back up and running, drained tank out and took top off/ brushed and washed out. Changed big spin of fuel filter but little inline one still needs changing which I didn’t have on me. Treated it to a can of ACF50 on all its rusty bits. Glad it’s kept under cover now. 4 years of outdoors has taken its toll.
Due a service really. Will organise it later in the year. Anyone any idea why it appears to have 3 hyd filters? 3cyl Kubota engine.

don't 'spose you tried the gauge for water tightness while the top was off??

Once the FLT up and running again I then had a good tidy up. Put the last delivery of dumpys onto pallets as todays dumpys seem to degrade very quickly. Got the screener out and spent an hour at end of day having a play. Using my claggy stone stockpile and the 40mm mesh.
Got a cleanish pile of 8-10t after an hours work. Learnt that the best way is to use toothed bucket around the base of the pile and rake it a bit as you go. If you take a big spoonful from middle of heap you end up with claggy clay lumps that ruin the fun.
Looking forward to seeing what it can do on the topsoil stock pile as that’s what it’s designed for really. You need the bulk of the material to be fines which is taken away by conveyor and allows a big heap. I’m using it ass about face trying to clean larger stuff.

Christ it rained today . I think we had more in one day than we’ve had for last 6 weeks combined. And guess where I was. Digging a drain 😂
Pulling the French drain further up across the site. Managed to dewater most of the upper lake, but trench needs to be another 500mm deeper yet and the Kubota won’t break through the rock. Might have to take the pecker to it tomorrow. On a site that’s 90% waterlogged with clay-it’s ironic that I have struck rock 🧐
I have to say - people bash Rhinox, but the 3” dig deep bucket for the micro has had a real pasting today being used as a rock ripper on the 2.7t machine and so far has not broken!
My land drains doing some work today.

was supposed to, here too ... obviously didn't reach us - YET!!
probably get it tomorrow, although there's a pretty fair E N Easterly blowing out there ATM, so as long as it doesn't swing round to the south we may not see it
it is 'sposed to swing round to a S Westerly, but not 'til late in the day and no rain to come with it

What a difference a day makes. Last day of digger loan. Got the pecker in the trench and gave it a pass with that, then put bucket on and clean out then repeat. Bit of a faff to keep changing. Need a 8 tonner with a ripper tooth I think for the rest of it later in the year, but trench is deep enough for far enough to get rid of the water and be out of the way for my services.
Had a tidy up and went down the side of the shed and pulled out between post holes ready for my perimeter drain, and smeared it around a bit flatter. One day there will be a height reduction and a french drain and a sewer happening down there, but probably years away.
Back tomorrow to have a poke about and tidy up/get some pipe in the ground.
