Well today the repaired fan cover (courtesy of Charles) came back, and the unit was rebuilt with the new injector and the rocker seals (also courtesy of Charles) Still a little white smoke till she warms up, then the usual black smoke! Oil stays the same on the dipstick without ever adding it... so if its getting past the rings its not much? I will give her a good clean out while top is off and then an oil change. When I was in the WN place getting bits I got well over excited and bought some 2 pack paint for the thing. Didnt pay attention to the ££ which was a mistake! I might get around to painting it... or may wait till I have finished the top yard and the middle yard and the bottom yard and then dads yard and the back yard, and the works yard, I may find it no longer required and let it go to a new owner. That is at least 2 years away though Will try and get a photo tomorrow.

Got a photo of sorts of repaired cover. Rest of it still sat in bits on the floor. Steam clean and oil change then put the roll cage back on. Be good to get some floor space back.
Charles had to remove washers from the inside and use dome heads as it was touching fan. Bolted not welded as very thin and galvanized originally? so wasn't welding well (and as its Charles I believe him!)

Local WN agents (M&M Plant) have gone above and beyond helping me out. Just sent me a link to the 300 page operators manual with no charge. Cant fault their service. (2.5l of engine oil by the way)

Overdue update on the poorly wacker.
No longer poorly!
It sat in the way in the plumbing shed for months, I have it an oil change and good wash on a rainy day, then took it back over to the shed site. It’s been working lovely and has smacked down several hundred tons of stony ground over the last few days.
No more black smoke like it used to.. so that new injector sorted that.
Always starts and phenomenal performance. Will shake the dust out of topsoil heap from 20ft away, yet you can easily operate with one hand most of the time.
Stay away from edges though as once it goes over… you won’t get it back without assistance

How much was the injector? Mine smokes thought it might be piston rings

I will check .. think it was circa £200 but don’t quote me . Local specialists couldn’t recon the old one annoyingly.

Distinct lack of decent used Wackers about. There's a 500kg WN 6555 up in London for £4kish but that about it

Must be an easy way for a 2 ton digger to slide on and off trailer. Thinking snatch block mounted up at the head board at pull it up the ramp on skids. Just drag it down ramp to get it off

I tempted fate … it broke down! This afternoon. A bit of investigation and it’s the battery , probably shaken itself to death. Started fine off jump leads. Typically it was the day that I had no multimeter as I loaned it to one of the installers at work so more head scratching than it should have been.
M+M are on the case… has to be the correct one to nestle into the runner mounts.

You can hire mine to see how you like it…. They pop up on eBay occasionally. Usually in 2s and 3s as they get linked up in teams and run on remote control for railway bedding

Monsters those - will the smaller ones near the same compaction rates with more passes ?

Now you've said that I feel like I have to try it. Can't see how it would be a problem. A 2 ton digger would have no drama dragging a bulk bag on skids and if that was put through a snatch block It would easily drag it up a plant trailer ramp

Trouble is the lifting point is at the top so no easy place down low to drag it from , if you pull from the top you’d turn it over ?
