My fun day yesterday..
So the day came when new cars with no spare wheel wasted most of my day..
Wife set off round M25 in the elec Cupra. Puncture near J20.
So i set off in 20yr old slk with a trolley jack and the spacesaver from my old Audi a3.
Arrive one hour later, the motorway wombles have arrived. They wont let me change wheel, they want me to limp off next junction
to a layby.
Changed the wheel and thankfully it fits.So mrs continues journey in the merc, i drive home slowly..
Tomorrow will be spent in quickfit all day i suppose as its the only place we are allowed to go to.
Its called progress i suppose.:)

Every time one of my family gets a spareLESS car, I buy a steel and a set of appropriate studs/nuts. If it won’t fit in the boot (most have space) then it’s in the shed ready. Can save a lot of ballache. That and towing bar as well. I can usually self rescue faster than waiting for recovery. That usually wastes half a day it seems.

The Audi space saver is going to stay in boot from now on. And the side jack which worked also.(y)
Last 3 or 4 punctures have been in spare time or on way home from work. Never in the morning, im cursed:)

Anyone seen the video of the recovery guy at the bottom of exit slip road on m6 I think. Has run in with highways England. They are a bunch of pricks
Mr GDB he's on a bit of a crusade against smart motorways ATM.

Mate told me that his customer broke down recently in artic.
Highways turned up...no probs I've got a recovery en route...ok. they gave him 2 hrs or something.
Anyway he got let down...so highways said we are sending someone no iffs no butts. Cost him 18k to get towed to nearest junction and dumped at a layby off mway.😲

He needs to be asking for a breakdown of the costs or someone's bs`s him.
On police contract work there is a standard list of charges, only some extras chargable on top.
A straight breakdown recovery shouldn't need any.

What happens when you go rainbow flags and pander to the electric brigade and ignore your core market.
Transporter is a classic example....no new vehicles till April and when it does it's a rebadged transit.
I assume from the rebadged models and this that VW haven't been doing to well in a while. Although I've seen a few things that the motor industry in general is down the pan.

Vw have traded on their past quality, but anything they’ve built since the 90’s has been getting worse as time goes on 😫

Someone I know has one of these self driving electric top of the range german cars ( naming no names) Anyhow last week the car did an auto update overnight and when he put it on charge it would not charge so it went back to the dealer who eventually diagnosed a software problem caused by the update, The dealer has some kind of temporary patch but its still not fixed properly, This is only a two year old car so still under warranty, But can you imagine what this would cost you once the car is out of warranty, No thanks not for me! The future is not electric!

Unfortunately internal combustion are no better. The big thing from what I've heard though is the astronomical price of repairs to electric. Apparently even minor scratch and dent repair is charged at a massive premium with lots body works refusing to work on them. Even if it's only from the stigma attached the cost implications sound very real.

Exactly I shudder at the thought of owning one out of warranty.

Bang on, teslas are incredibly expensive, they wanted 2 and 1/2 grand for two suspension units on my cousins. The mechanic told him to sell it. It had just gone out of warranty. He flogged it quickly. Didn't bother getting the work done. Incidentally, Tesla aren't interested in buying them back off you out of warranty.
Disposable cars are now a very real thing.

Disposable electric cars to save the planet.
The irony is incomprehensible.
I still don't believe for a second that the published full life emissions of cars are entirely honest.
It's not even like the fuel economy is that much better than in the past. How can it possibly be more environmentally friendly to landfill a car <10 years old over one that runs for 30 years.
