gonna want some ground protection mats as well then - (plenty of discussion in here about them and recently) - rubber tracks're gonna make a hell of a mess of the green stuff

yeh I'd be looking at summat more than a motorised shovel for that budget .... unless of course you're working in a maze or something equally tight, constantly (and servos is a must have, rather than crouching over levers all the time )

A micro is way more than a motorised shovel though, especially paired with a tracked dumper it's so productive for the size, fuel consumption and cost!
My yanmar is on sticks, can't say it bothers me, could be because I look/am ridiculously oversized on a micro so the sticks are very close to my hands
All that being said, if I had the OPs budget I'd be wanting a 1.5, but that's not practical, or the Bobcat micro.

If it was my money I'd go to Euro auctions, rb auctions or the likes even liquidation auctions and buy a 2023 machine with low hours. Are you a 1 ton is the right size? They're more suited for narrow access rear garden than 5 acres.

getting better, but @Monkeybusiness took the words out of my mouth ..... don't forget to factor in the 20% VAT unless you're registered and can reclaim it .... are you gonna pay for it or make use of their credit -- are Bobcat still doing their zero rate ?

yup all three buckets and first service - I tried that 15k price point and offered to pay today but he didnt bite

I’d leave them thinking about your offer and see what other manufacturers are offering.
If you don’t need very narrow access you might as well look at 1.5-2 tonners as well - they are on bigger track frames so won’t do any more damage to your lawn than a micro but are quite a bit more capable when it comes to digging. (If the ground is wet anything will leave a mess - leave those jobs until it’s all dried out!).

The track area increases on the machines as they get bigger so the ground pressure stays similar.

If you genuinely need a micro not a mini.. then an E10z will be your best choice. Plenty around now .. saw a local 2021 with 250 hours for 12.5k plus vat.. about right. Lots with 1000 plus hours but that's high on a micro...

as said, leave 'em sweat it .. and go see what else is about/who else is prepared to have a deal -
I'm sure you could work the Vodka in somewhere if you try
couple of decent ground mats with some rope loops and just re-position them with the machine as you track along with the bucket teeth ... sod handling 'em when you have a machine - pick from behind and drop in front as you progress .. four 8x4s ought to do it for a 1.5t ... maybe three for a baby one
as for storage ... I'm sure you could make space for it if you have to

Unless things have changed, would be cheaper to just buy a new one.

I hired one a while ago and thought it was an excellent micro/mini compromise machine. Have since been on a Bobcat E10 a few times, which now I think about it does feel a bit more micro than mini.
