ROCK MACHINERY RMD Micro digger

Hi All

quick question, digger for largish grounds (5 acres) So no commercial use. I take it that chinatown copies are frowned upon, even Carter CT10 seems like a false economy. I cant justify spending 20k on a jap brand. Anyone got any views on the Rock Machinery RMD micro digger? (sorry site security wont let me post a link)

UK Company, hold their parts/stock and build their own machines. From the pictures it looks much better constructed than the Chinese ones?

much rather have used old Japanese known brand than any of the new crap, proven machines and will always resell where as Chinese crap you'll be stuck with or loose all its value. a used jam might only loose 1k in 5 years etc on light use

I’m sure it’s better than a Carter, but you’ll get a secondhand decent micro for 8k.

thats the one - whats the best trusted website where one would go to purchase a used jap one? I'm just worried about things failing on a used one

things fail even on new machines ... have a look at Johnny Barnes ... staight as a die or our own leader's site ... he might be able to find you something but your budget's a tad tight
thank you. Budget isnt the primary driver behind the purchase and Im leaning towards getting a Jap one albeit used. Ideally less than 250 hours

is that a good thing or a bad thing?!
horses for courses ... the Sauterelle has been about a while .. was available as a self build/self assembly kit/completely built unit ... at least they were made from Eu steel and bits ... have a look on youtube

they also do a 360 but couldn't find a link

so is the rock machinery one still not up to standard for general garden maintenance?

can't get it up on their website, but as others have said s/h Jap'd be my choice for sure .. or even some of the small JCBs would be within budget ...
this is my 8015 JCB, bought well within your budget with under 3k hrs and a load of buckets, from a member on here

I know what I would invest £7.7k of my money in and it would not be a non mainstream chimera collection of bits, assembled into a 'digger' ..
think I'd rather stick with my old Manor Micron walker -- at least I know it is solid and proven over many years of ownership.;) and a massively lower cost

if I up my budget to 10-15k for a brand new micro is this likely to get me something decent? I saw a JCB MICRO 8008 on the Watling JCB site with 26hours on it for £14.5k

Lots of choice for that budget now I'd say.
Would a 1.5 ton not be more suitable or have you got lots of tight areas to work in?
Having spent a couple of days on a JCB micro this week there's no way I'd spent 14.5 on one. Not saying I wouldn't spend 6k-7k on a used one if I had the need, but no way would I spend that sort of money on one

No servo levers. I’d look for a secondhand bobcat e10 with 500 hours or so for around 9-10k
looks like I can get a bobcat e10 for 17k + vat -

Yes we are in a conservation area and some access is across my lawn + tight between some trees + storage!

I reckon you’ll get a better deal than that if you ring around - there will be 2023 manufactured ‘new old stock’ machines in dealers yards that you should be able to arm-wrestle a deal on.

gonna want some ground protection mats as well then - (plenty of discussion in here about them and recently) - rubber tracks're gonna make a hell of a mess of the green stuff

yeh I'd be looking at summat more than a motorised shovel for that budget .... unless of course you're working in a maze or something equally tight, constantly  (and servos is a must have, rather than crouching over levers all the time ) :(
