Said same to meYeah I got that impression- they said I could order one now as base machine and if I didn't want it when it arrived in July it could go to the next person on the list.

It's a piece of pi** for a taki dealer to do that as they basically full spec every uk machine but they clearly are not pricing it as such. I assume they must think once you are asking for specific changes they've got you hooked and can take the mick.Said same to me
I think at the time they were about 23,500 the cat was 24Wonder what the jcb is price wise
I don't think you get my point. I'm not talking your personal spec but their's. If you look at any taki model there are nigh on no optional extras, so every machine comes into the uk with every box ticked apart from the odd model where extra lines might be optional or tb290 with tab boom. The point being that a machine ordered in for someone who backs out isn't gonna be a hard sell to somebody else because they don't want aircon to save money if you can't buy the machine without it anyway. There machines are defiantly not full spec
The buggers! They've changed the dippers on them now?So the builders digger is on the job I'm working on so to save the hassle of taking another of mine I've been using his. View attachment 29835Oh no hide the rope it's a 216 I'll never cope. Well I'm gonna be honest I'm only using it to load soil into a dumper but as far as doing that goes i don't know where all the hate comes from. Might be different if i try some digging with it but i likely won't on this job. I wouldn't change my 219 for it as the extra reach is a miss when loading dumpers etc and ffs the fuel filler cap is in that wonderful place they all like to put them where you can't get a drum near it
It's a 2020 build and despite seeing it on jobs a few times I'd never took much notice, but no cast dipper View attachment 29836
I'll check for movement in slew ring but as far I've noticed there's nothing erratic or unpredictable about it. Plenty quick enough for just bulking heaps into dumper as well. In fact i wouldn't mind if 219 was as quick at slewing. The buggers! They've changed the dippers on them now?
The main issue I have with my TB216 is the slew is erratic and overshoots. Grab the bucket and there is alot of sideways movement from new. But everything else I can live with. The one thing I will say is they are bloody stable- I'd go as far to say probably best in class in this respect and reach is pretty good too. I don't think breakout is that great either. I tried a Kubota KX 018-4 and that was even more shite so who knows!
My Kubota U17-3a is exactly the same in the slewThe buggers! They've changed the dippers on them now?

What vehicle do you tow with?Very interesting conversation here. I have a TB016 and find it great but a bit too small for what I am doing. It struggles with bigger boulders and the grab would need that little bit more reach, and so does the arm. I am building stone retaining walls on a slope, and the 016 is marginal in my situation. I would love a 225 but will be over my towing capacity, and upgrading the truck is outside the scope of this exercise.
Can someone who upgraded from 016 to 219 confirm it will be an improvement in lifting capacity? I know it will reach that much more, but the lifting capacity can be subjective.
219 is slightly better lift capacity- perhaps an extra 60kg at far reach. So in terms of boulder handling not a massive upgrade on a 016. I used to do loads of granite walling/retaining walls etc with an 016, it was always on its knees. A 2.8t is a massive upgrade in comparison. Can't comment on the 225 as haven't used one for boulder walling.Very interesting conversation here. I have a TB016 and find it great but a bit too small for what I am doing. Get a hitch modified/made to take the 016 buckets and tools.Unfortunately for now, I have to stick to my Toyota Surf that can pull 2.5 tn no problems but not more, not legally anyway. So for now it is either bait the bullet and stick with the 016 and it's limitations, or go 219. I will need to upgrade the grab though and that will give me that much more handling size. I believe the auger drive will be Ok to use the same, only need a different hitch.
If you’re not going on motorway etc just wing it mate. No comparison between a 2.5 and a 1.9t especially for that kind of work.Unfortunately for now, I have to stick to my Toyota Surf that can pull 2.5 tn no problems but not more, not legally anyway. The tb216 will lift more, I’ve had them side by side. Not sure about the 016.Cat 302cr job done![]()
In yank measurements or proper standards ?The tb216 will lift more, I’ve had them side by side. Not sure about the 016.
